In this small shop, you will discover Binche lace made entirely with bobbins in the Binche pattern, the most renowned in the world but also the most difficult!!! Originally, Binche lace was the same as the lace made in Valenciennes. They do, indeed, have the same origin and were imported from French Hainaut at the beginning of the 17th century. The differences were established over the years. Binche lace is characterised by the extremely delicate thread used for the lace. The snowy background gives the work a fairy-like appearance. Particularly fashionable before the French Revolution, its renown crossed our borders and Victor Hugo himself wrote about it in “Les Misérables".
