Théâtre Saint-Louis
Description
A small Italian-style theatre, the Saint-Louis establishes a proximity between the artists and the audience that is greatly appreciated during the different performances.
The theatre was inaugurated on 18 December 1862. Built on the ruins of a project for the construction of a church, it was bought in 1876 by the municipality in order to transform it into the town hall.
The abundance of sculptures highlights the influence of the Second Empire.
After difficulties with programming, the theatre was closed in 1968 for security reasons.
Reopened in 1984, this prestigious setting now hosts conferences, dance performances, concerts and plays by companies from Pau and elsewhere.
