The cross of Saint Martin
This cross is located at the crossroads near the road to Paimboeuf, 1.5 km from the village of Cheix, at a place where Abbé David mentions a station during the processions of Saint Mark's Day and Rogations (the 3 days preceding Ascension Day).
Known as the "Green Cross" because of the colour chosen for the wood of the cross, which was painted green, it was built in honour of Saint Martin.
It was blessed in 1887, then rebuilt in its current form in 1898, with :
a square base of rubble stone masonry,
a chamfered cross with flowers,
the cast iron Christ,
cast iron titulus (inscription).
The Green Cross or Saint Martin's Cross was damaged in a storm in December 1979. It was refurbished with a new pine cross, and repairs were also made to the cast-iron Christ.
It was rededicated on Easter Day 1981.
The base bears the inscription: "To the glory of N.S.J.C [Our Lord Jesus Christ] and in honour of St Martin" and the date.
