Merle Lake
Description
It was built in 1875 at the request of Jean-Louis Combes, a wealthy industrialist, to enhance his estate. A haven of peace—whether in the morning mist or the pink glow of sunset—the lake is adorned with a multitude of water lilies.
A paradise for birds and aquatic wildlife, it is a place of mystery and melancholy; lower your voice and tread softly in this magical setting. As the water is shallow and the bottom muddy, swimming is prohibited.
