In the 19th century, when Romanticism was at its zenith, Alphonse de Lamartine, a close friend of the château owner of the time, would come to find inspiration here, in Portets, at Château de L’Hospital, which had been built 2 years before the French Revolution.
During the Enlightenment…This land was also the first to be planted with vines during Roman times.
