Religious heritage taken private
The former presbytery dates back to the Middle Ages:
The oldest part, with its Romanesque arched doorways, probably dates from the 12th century. It was during this period that the first priors of Cheix appeared.
The building was restored and considerably altered in the 14th and 15th centuries.
It was modified in the 17th century.
The central part, facing the porch, bears the date 1637 engraved on the tufa lintel at the entrance.
The last alterations were made in the 19th century.
The wing, with openings featuring brick panels and a low-pitched tiled roof, was built in 1848. The west extension dates from 1856.
The walled garden of the former vicarage has now been converted into parkland. To the south, a stone porch overlooks the garden.
Today, the former presbytery is a private property that cannot be visited.
A little extra: Situated opposite the Acheneau river, you can see the buildings surrounded by its green space at the end of the Chemin de la Rive, which you can take on the Pierre Tremblante hiking trail.
