Biarritz?s Lac Mouriscot is a beautiful, peaceful, green walking area, with a gentle slope in the northern part; sports enthusiasts can go as far as the sea or walk around the lake. It is well equipped with information panels on history, flora and fauna. Children can also enjoy the playground and picnic area at La Négresse.

The first part of the coastal path offers a great diversity of atmospheres, alternating beaches, creeks, paths and small roads. The arrival at the point of Sainte-Barbe, from which you can dominate the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, is exceptional. An advice... to be done preferably at low tide. Warning : the coastal path is temporarily closed between Bidart and Guéthary, a deviation is set up at the level of the chapel St Joseph.

The heritage walk invites you to go off the beaten track to discover the centers of interest and the remarkable historical heritage of Bidart All along this route, plaques are affixed to tell you the history and anecdotes associated with these elements. Bidart will have no more secrets for you!

Ideal for pushchairs, small bikes and wheelchairs. Close to the sea and the mythical sites of Biarritz, here is a peaceful and refreshing walk by a lake. Discover the flowered paths, the children's playground as well as a nicely converted railway line and the remains of an astonishing residence. Don't forget your binoculars for bird watching.

This walk between sea and countryside takes in the new Voie Verte in Bidart, from the mouth of the Uhabia to the Bassilour mill. Its hard, rolling sand-colored surface will be a landmark. Well-equipped, it will delight families with its footbridges, play areas and rest areas. Posts provide orientation at every crossroads. Its unusual length makes it perfectly accessible all the way to the chapel.

The Voie Verte de l'Uhabia is a soft path, shared by pedestrians and bicycles. This 6km walk starts at the Uhabia estuary, runs along its banks, bypasses the Ur Onea retention basin and continues to the Bassilour mill. It is then extended by a cycle path to the Izarbel technology park Nature" stops with wooden furniture, pontoons and reading tables are scattered along the route... These elements along the walk are appreciated by all members of the family. The Voie Verte de l'Uhabia allows you to cross Bidart from west to east and to discover the village in a different way.

Here is a stage of the Velodymede with exceptional views of the ocean, but somewhat sporty and shared with the cars. Don't hesitate to put your bike down: picnic areas, tables and interpretation trails are placed all along the route.

Departure facing the ocean, the face flooded with sea spray, in the heart of Biarritz. Crossing the Pyrenean foothills on the Véloroute 81 requires first of all following the Atlantic coast to the mouth of the Adour River; a godsend since the landscapes offered by this sample of the Basque coastline, from the cliffs of the Biarritz lighthouse to the golden sands of Anglet, are among the most beautiful to begin a bicycle trip. The mouth of the Adour River is a sudden change of course: let's head east along the river to the historic shopping town of Bayonne, where the architectural treasures are a great incentive to take a curious break. Cycling facilities are a great help in getting through the city and, again with the Adour River, the route takes in the surrounding countryside.

By taking advantage of a quick transfer by TER train, one can envisage a beautiful bike ride along the Basque coast. The itinerary begins in the heart of Guéthary, with a balcony overlooking its small port where the memory of the whale hunters from the 12th to the 14th century hovers in the air, as fishing is anchored in the Getarian soul. The coastal cliffs are full of lookouts over the ocean, once used by whale and ship watchers, which the tour proposed here does not fail to compile in a magnificent two-wheeled stroll. A first loop visits the inland and discreetly reaches the neighboring town of Bidart. Heritage, beaches and villas follow one another until passing through Guéthary. The second part of the itinerary flirts with the coastal path, towards Saint-Jean-de-Luz by the beaches of Acotz, on lanes dedicated to bicycles.

This "sensitive natural area" currently developed and open to the public covers about 68 ha (including the water body 15 ha, and the marsh 10 ha). It has become a protected natural area, now partially classified as "Natura 2000". Fishing is allowed without a fishing licence and fishing permit. It can only be practised from the shore (no boat) and is limited to 1 rod per fisherman.

Proudly erected between the presbytery and the former post office, this monument is the work of one of the Gomez brothers, architects from Bayonne. On its flanks, the artist depicted two soldiers, one wearing a helmet and the other wearing the traditional beret. The drawing reveals the influence of art deco. The monument dates from 1924.

In Bidart, the church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption faces east according to ancient tradition. Dating back to the 16th century, it is surrounded by the parish cemetery where some humble discoid stones still remain, serving as ornaments for the old Basque tombs The baptismal font, in oriental style (offered by Queen Nathalie of Serbia); in front of the pulpit, a wooden crucifix (dated between the 16th and 17th centuries), the work of a good craftsman; a statue of Santiago in pilgrim's costume, made of beautiful solid oak; the gleaming altarpieces of 1750 strongly influenced by Spanish sculpture (where the patron saint of the church presides in the middle).

The wash-house was renovated in 1934: its basin was redone in cement and covered with a roof. The spring catchment has kept its original aspect. It is fed by the Plazako Ithurria spring, or source of the square. Although its water is no longer drinkable today, it used to be used by the inhabitants of the centre, filled with its constant freshness (15°) Other springs exist in Bidart, including Contresta. Called "royal spring", it gained recognition following the discovery of its therapeutic virtues. It was indeed used as a cure against urinary infections and arthritic states. The water from this spring is no longer drinkable today.

The Memorial is erected on the seafront, along the coastal path. It refers to various sequences of the Second World War that marked the Basque Country: the presence of a community of Basque refugees from Spain, occupation, the forbidden zone, escapes via the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and the Spanish border, captivity of colonial troops, the bombing of Biarritz, the building of the fortifications of the Atlantic Wall, acts of Resistance, repression, deportations and persecutions.

The Chapel of the Madeleine and its esplanade constitute one of the most emblematic sites of Bidart on the Basque Coast. Perhaps the oldest in the town, it was destroyed in 1817 by a hurricane and rebuilt in 1820. Its exceptional site, above the ocean, and the saint to whom it is dedicated, Madeleine, made it a milestone on the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela.

A wine enthusiast, Élodie Etchepare decided to launch "De vignes en ville", a customized van transformed into a traveling wine cellar, to combine "better drinking" with the "better eating" of food trucks.
