This hike crosses the plains of Toulouse, Vidalot or Galaux. Don't think that the relief is absent. These "plains" are in fact plateaus surrounding the narrow valley of the Boudouyssou where the small village of Courbiac nestles.

When you enter the department by the D 656, you only see it! A large and high bastide perched on a pech. You climb up to it by a small road which, below the ramparts, winds up the hillside. You pass through the gate and discover the orderly streets, the Place des Cornières, the belfry dating from 1637 and its moon clock made in 1843, then the stairs that leave the town, the water tower, etc... From the foot of this stronghold, you will reach the picturesque village of Bourlens, former residence of the bishops of Agen, through woods, vineyards and orchards, via the pech de Padès. After a long descent along shady paths lined with vineyards, you will reach the Dor valley. You will then walk due south, to go up gradually on the hillside of Castang. At a bend in the path, the northern ramparts of the bastide appear.

This hike will make you discover the southern side of the bastide. On the way back, you will walk through the round tower, the public garden, the streets with half-timbered houses, the town hall square...

The bastide is almost always visible from all points on this route. You will first walk towards the Verdus forest and then towards the wood of the Tombs of the Giants. This route ends with a long straight line which allows you to appreciate the last climb to the medieval site. This circuit first crosses a vineyard, then passes along a lake before going into the forest of Verdus on winding and stony paths. The village of Masquières, close to the department of Lot, occupies a large part of this forest. In the valleys of Lartel and Las Gonies, archaeological discoveries testify to the prehistoric occupation of the place. Nearby, dug into a hill, the cobbler's cave sheltered Neolithic burials. In the forest are the remains of a covered alley called the "Tomb of the Giants" (prehistoric megalith). The church of Saint-Vincent, built in 1240, is the former chapel of a priory attached to the abbey of Moissac

On the borders of Agenais and Quercy, 42 km from Agen and 45 km from Cahors, Tournon-d'Agenais, a fortified town labeled among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, is perched on a pech, a hill with steep sides in the Pays de Serres, between Lot and Garonne. From a castle site attested at the beginning of the 13th century, a fortified town developed with its tall rampart houses, its orderly streets and its square of the corners. From the public garden, an orientation table allows you to enjoy the panorama of the Boudouyssou valley. Tournon-d'Agenais highlights the old house of the Bishops of Agen called the Abescat, its 17th century belfry whose bell tower houses a lunar clock to follow the phases of the night star. The city hosts traditional festivals such as the tourtière, a light, crispy dessert filled with apples or prunes flavored with Armagnac.

In Lot-et-Garonne, the tourtière pie is a real tradition... It was considered as a cheap dish, and might have been brought to the region during the barbarian invasions. It is quite similar to deserts called croustade or pastis gascon. The belle truffle, with its strong perfume and its pleasant savour. It needs heat and grows in chalky grounds, at 1 to 15 cm deep, at the foot of "truffier" trees (oak-tree, hazel tree, lime trees, hornbeams...).

The living room is located on the bread oven side in an open space. There is a television with Freeview reception and a DVD player. Upstairs, there are two large adjoining bedrooms, separated by a bathroom. One bedroom has a 180x200 double bed and the other bedroom has two 90x200 cm beds. The bathroom has a shower, a sink and a toilet. This cottage is very suitable for couples with children. A baby cot can be provided on request.
