Exciting Adventures Near Camping Xtreme Village, Lamontjoie

This circuit allows you to discover, from the ridge paths, numerous panoramas on the hillsides of Gascony, delimiting the departments of Gers and Lot-et-Garonne. You can also see the bastide of Lamontjoie, founded in 1298 on a regular plan, with a central square and a parish church. It is surrounded by ramparts and ditches which were transformed into a garden at the end of the 18th century. Outside the walls of the bastide, two convents were founded in the 17th century: that of the Cordeliers in 1623 and that of the Poor Clares in 1667, of which a wing and part of the cloister have been preserved.

This easy walk takes place in the rounded hills of the Gascony hillsides, accompanying for a few kilometres the pilgrims towards Santiago de Compostela, for whom the goal is 1063 km, the distance indicated on the totem pole installed by the FFRandonnée.

The paths on this route are often paved. The shimmering surface of this large lake - more than a kilometre long - catches the eye. The church of St. Vincent, separated from its bell tower, is also worth seeing, as well as many panoramas, including those of St. Vincent, Manne, Pane Baque, etc..

Albret is a privileged region for hiking enthusiasts, thanks to its mosaic of landscapes. With no difficulties and few differences in altitude, the trails are ideal for families with young children. This long, rugged route, dotted with numerous water reservoirs, offers several viewpoints on the surrounding Gascony hillsides, and promontory villages such as Montagnac-sur-Auvignon, Moncaut...

From the village of Nomdieu, built around the Hospitaller Commandery, founded in the 12th century, to Saint-Lary, the view is of the hills of Albret. The villages of Montagnac-sur-Auvignon, Moncaut, Laplume and Fieux can be seen on the horizon. During this tour you will see the churches of Nomdieu and Saint-Lary, and then you will be able to admire the viewpoints and a rich built heritage. You will not be able to miss the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which has thick walls with narrow openings, evidence of its defensive character. At the foot of the church, you will find a sundial, called analemmatic. It is the first of a series of four located around the village, which you can discover during this hike.

Labat, Touron, Lamothe and Roquemaure, four refreshing stages to discover the past of the commune of Laplume through historical panels telling scenes of rural life in the past.

All along this route, you will be able to discover the history of the town and the past of the washhouses with the help of historical panels, study the landscape with the orientation table and the local flora with the help of educational totems with educational totems.

Marmont-Pachas, a village without a town, is notable for its church with a round, tapering stone bell tower. This is where this hike starts, through very open, rounded hillsides, which accompanies the pilgrims of St-Jacques, from the Aouillès farm to the old cemetery near Curton.

Built on a gently-sloping plateau near the Auvignon River, this fortified town carries the name of Lamontjoie de Saint Louis. Founded in 1289 by Philippe le Bel, the modest-sized bastide has not changed much since it was built, and features a church as the backdrop to the town centre. The town’s battlements and moat have disappeared, but there is still a rich variety of things to see, including the 16th century church, the 18th century Clarisses convent, and the homogeneous stone buildings.

In 2011, in memory of our family, we created the FAIVREJMAGINE® brand It was born in Saint-Vincent-de-Lamontjoie, in Lot-et-Garonne (47), more than 650 km from the ancestral cradle. Our distillery has been set up in the family home, where all the recipes have been redone identically: wild sloe and wild blackberry liqueurs with forgotten flavours, walnut liqueurs, mirabelle plums, Blended and Single Malt Whisky, Single Malt Vodka, Gin, Manzana...

The Cabier farm is an open-air poultry farm (chickens, guinea fowl, cans, capons). You can find the products at the farm, at the Boé shop, on the markets.

Former capital of Bruilhois until the Revolution, Laplume is a promontory city, perched on a ridge. The open view allows you to admire a superb 360° panorama of the region. An ancient medieval fortified town, the city has a main street distributing all the districts of the village. You will be surprised by the Saint-Barthélemy church, classified as a Historic Monument, a rare Gothic church in the Agenais Destroyed following a major fire, the ramparts, originally pierced by five gates, have been partly rebuilt by the city. Take the circuit going down the stairs of the ramparts to the wash houses of Laplume dating from the 18th century. Numerous walks allow you to discover the region's plant heritage.

The village of Le Nomdieu is built around the commandery of the Templars founded in the 12th century. Leaning against the remains of this building, you will not be able to miss the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church. This building has thick walls, pierced with narrow openings, witness of its defensive character. On the square at the foot of the church, you will find an astonishing sundial, known as analemmatic. It is the first of a series of four sundials located around the village, which you can discover through a 3h35 walk. A sign tells you how to proceed to read the time. All you have to do is stand in the centre of the dial, and your shadow will indicate the time thanks to the numbers engraved in the stone. You will thus discover a total of four sundials, during a pleasant walk in the heart of the Albret hillside landscapes.
