In 1863, the church of Sainte-Madeleine was built to replace the old one, which had become unhealthy.

The oak of Nerthe, located in the commune of Magescq, is a vigorous oak, without any wounds, without dead branches, a young oak in sum of 600 years. It is 27 metres high, the circumference of the trunk measures 6.40 metres to 1.60 metres high. An impressive and magnificent oak, which is worth the detour. You can eventually get there by car, but the path is somewhat difficult. It is easier to get there on foot, as part of a walk of about 1 km

In this space dedicated to glass, you will discover the magic of the glassblower, the history of glass and its techniques, a museum exhibiting French glassblowers, an art gallery.

The presence of this fountain was attested to in 1863 by the parish priest Légé. People used to come here to ask Saint-Eutrope to cure rheumatism. Until 1920, on 30 April or the following Sunday, a procession was organised from the church to this spring. In the 19th century, Taller had three healing springs: the fountain of Saint Eutrope, the fountain of Saint John and the fountain of Houn de le Leit (the milk fountain). The latter was intended for women who had difficulty breastfeeding.

Abbot Victor Doussy (1878-1953), a little-known poet, spent 32 years working in the commune of Taller and did a great deal of work on the conservation of the church. A friend of Francis Jammes and Emmanuel Delbousquet, his taste for the arts in general was not always viewed favourably by the ecclesiastical hierarchy, which rejected his literary inclinations. If his friends, anxious to keep him drinking past midnight, sometimes delayed the clocks, he always managed to celebrate his morning mass. Here and there he was reproached for his "atheistic" frequentations. But these so-called digressions are not enough to hide the greatness of the soul of a man who wrote in one of his poems, Solitude: "If I possessed everything one could wish for to be happy, I would lack the essential: the happiness of others".

What is there in common between a festival hall, a municipal foyer, a meeting room or a people's house? The variety of terms used to describe these places of sociability has perhaps contributed to hiding a particular architectural richness. Albert Pomade, an architect from the beginning of the 20th century, worked all his life to build the Landes heritage. We owe him the famous Dax bullring, but also many other buildings of the most diverse kinds, such as the Basque-Landes villas on the Boulevard Carnot, still in Dax, or more than twenty projects for meeting rooms. The village hall in Taller remains a witness to the influence of the Belle Epoque on an architecture with conventional forms but brightened up by cheerful female figures.

A stopover village on the road to Compostela, the pilgrims used to stop at the hospital in Pouymartet. The chapel and hospital have now disappeared.

On 27 July 1944, Henri Ferrand, a young Resistance fighter aged 24, consulted the departure sign: "Ammunition train for Rennes, departure at 9pm". He went to the tracks and put down his two plastic blocks. A few minutes later, a huge explosion shook the Laluque station. This supply train, of capital importance to the Germans, had been slowly supplied via the ammunition depot at Taller, the second most important on French territory. Today there is nothing left of this depot, except for some ammunition found from time to time in the forest. The route of the old railway line is still visible, however, hidden in the vegetation.

The airial, sometimes described as a sort of oasis in the Landes desert, is the incarnation of "Landes happiness". Amidst the majestic oaks, it is the basic element of the urbanisation of small groups of dwellings which sometimes develop in an arc around the initial airial. Solidly set on the moor, the roof often descends very low to the west to limit the impact of the maritime winds. The Petit airial is an example of a construction in this coastal area with wealthy houses, with the half-timbering filled in with mortar and bricks laid at an angle.

Used in the 17th century by Basque blacksmiths, this site reached its peak production in the 19th century. Smelting furnaces, created by the main landowner, Bertrand Geoffroy, supplied a sort of cast iron used to make steel sheets for the shipbuilding industry. It employed 400 people at the time. It finally closed down in 1901 after a few conflicts with the workers. Mr & Mrs Boulart sold the forge to Chappée Industry which settle in Peyrouton, a borough of Dax, until the 70s.

Jean Coussau draws his inspiration from local produce: fish from the ocean or the Adour, poultry, duck and foie gras from the Landes, beef from Chalosse, game, asparagus from Magescq... and Jacques Coussau, restaurant manager and sommelier, manages a two-generation cellar and a service that includes carving and pedestal table service, as well as flambéing in the grand tradition of French tableware.
