You set off from Pontenx-les-Forges, a charming village of garluche (rust-colored stone) buildings. You head for Lüe, a small village with a rich historical heritage. You then head through the forest along the old railroad line to the village of Labouheyre. As you enter Labouheyre, you pass the Maison de la Photographie des Landes, the birthplace of Felix Arnaudin. Leaving Labouheyre, the voie verte runs deep into the forest. You arrive at Commensacq. The voie verte returns to the heart of the Landes forest until you reach the Eiffel bridge. A few kilometers further on, you arrive at the Ecomusée de Marquèze train station before reaching the town of Sabres. There are no technical difficulties to report. This route, built on the right-of-way of an old railroad line, has a very slight gradient. The route is ideal for families.

The Mahourat marsh, like the Pigeon plain, is part of a type 1 Natural Zone of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF). To the south of the Courant de Contis lies the Plaine de Pigeon. It is a vestige of the wetlands drained at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Managed by the ACCA of Lit et Mixe and the departmental hunting federation, this site is home to a wealth of biodiversity unique in the Landes. This breeding ground for rare species is home to several species of orchids, as well as the marsh stellar, a rare herbaceous plant in the Landes massif.

The 14th century church, built in local garluche (iron silicate) by the commanders of Malta, is listed as a Historic Monument. The central nave (not demolished during the wars of religion), the garluche stone choir, the large pillars, the vaults and ribs, form a well-balanced architectural ensemble. The backgammon coming from Bias by the coastal road passed through Mezos and could thus reach Dax. In the interior is a reproduction of the Prague Child Jesus, which was donated by Poles at the end of the 20th century.
