This loop combines the discovery of the local terroir with a stroll between vineyards and forest. A detour through the village of Marcillac allows you to admire its listed church, its famous distillery whose fireplace marks the landscape, and its winegrowers' cooperative, 2 local gastronomic curiosities. Then, still between the vineyards, you reach a hamlet and its old flour mill converted into a restaurant. After crossing an open landscape alternating fields and pastures, you pass the Livenne river. You take the wide tracks through the mixed forest. During this quiet stroll, you may be able to observe birds bustling through the foliage or meet a deer at the bend in the path. On the way back to the starting point, you will pass close to the remains of another watermill, a witness to Marcillac's rich industrial heritage

For hikers, there are 42km of forest trails and walks under the shade of the mixed forest, we offer 4km. This route is for nature lovers, the real, pure, authentic one. If you like the city, the noise, the world, choose another walk. Here you will be in contact with the woods of the forest paths, you will listen to the birds, the silence, the nature; you will admire the trees, the chestnut trees, the oaks, the pines and other species. Château des Tourtes is a wonderful family story which is perpetuated. Created in 1967, Vignobles Raguenot thrive on the pioneering and visionary minds of Lise & Philippe Raguenot. In 1997, their two daughters Emmanuelle & Marie Pierre and their husbands take the vineyard of Château des Tourtes back, which is in Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. This estate, located in Saint Caprais stretches on 64 ha whose 15 are a production of white grapes. This is a warm atmosphere and full of conviviality that awaits you in this lovely property. If the atmosphere of the place inspires you, know that two lodgings await you in Château des Tourtes. Take benefit of the discovery of the estate to visit the vineyard in a uncommon way : ride one of the bikes to do the "bulle verte", a real immersion in the vines.

The old church of the Middle Ages must have been Romanesque, but we know that it is on the baptismal registers of Saint-Aubin, that in 1671, under Louis XIV, a presbytery was built at the expense of the inhabitants of the parish. In 1738, under Louis XV, a Grand-Moulin culvert was built in Saint-Aubin on the main road. The church, restored in the 17th century, has kept its Romanesque character with its old bell tower, its porch and its three panelled naves.

Towards the end of the 19th century, this modern church in Romanesque style was built according to the plans of Monsieur Bonnorre.

Château Les Pâques has been in our family for several generations. We currently manage Château Les Pâques with my wife Marie- Cécile, and are doing everything in our power to enable our son to take over the vineyard within the next few years: building a vinification cellar and buying new vines especially for him! The church of Saint-Vincent is a Romanesque church from the 12th century. Reshaped in the Gothic period and in the 18th century, its richness comes from the portal decorated with frescos of oriental style. It has a massive fortified bell tower, altarpieces and two wooden statues of saints. Its famous cemetery cross, dating from the end of the 15th century, decorated with 12 statuettes representing the Apostles, was listed in 1907. This Romanesque church opens onto a portal, crowned by four vaults, decorated with interlacing. The vaults and capitals have carved motifs. A frieze, composed of facing griffins, decorates the capitals of the small columns framing the opening.

The building, in Gothic Revival style, was built at the end of the 19th century to replace the primitive church that had suffered a fire. The richly decorated tympanum of the façade shelters God the father surrounded by the symbols of the 4 evangelists: a lion, an eagle, a bull and a young man. Stone drapes hide false doors. Numerous stained glass windows, signed Dagrand, illuminate the interior of the building. Among the saints depicted in these stained-glass windows are Saint Romain, priest and apostle of Blayais.

A Special Jury Prize-winner in the “Discovery and Innovation” category of the Best Of Wine Tourism 2009 competition, Château La Rose Bellevue is a highly original wine estate with a secret garden and good food and wine outings along the water. Indoor and outdoor activities are available for children. In the summer, go for a sail along the estuary in a motorboat, and savour a copious platter of seafood, served with wines from the property.
