Well laid out, this route through vineyards, forests and bastides has several welcome points in the former stations of this old railway line. Arrival in Créon, a town organized around its central square with arcades, the result of an ancient fortified bastide.

This family outing offers you a beautiful series of panoramas on the left bank of the city (Palmer Park, Belvédère Bellevue, Parc de l'Ermitage Sainte-Catherine). With the exception of a necessary ascent to reach the top of the hill, the short and relatively flat walk is accessible to all.

During this family and bucolic walk, marked by the presence of numerous flagstones, astonishing landscapes coexist: natural and preserved landscapes with the marshes of Bruges; artificial landscapes with the lake of Bordeaux and the atypical development of the park of Majolan. This fortified gateway was also a prison. Young delinquents were thrown into its dungeons fitted with thick doors and stout locks. The Port Cailhau, thirty-five metres tall, was integrated into the city walls. In 1864, it was rented by a public letter writer and a person whose job was to weigh salt. They were both evicted in order to renovate the monument. There is a magnificent view of the oldest bridge in Bordeaux, the Pont de Pierre, from here. An exhibition displays the tools and materials used for construction purposes at the time the Porte Cailhau was built and an audio-visual presentation pieced together from old films immerses us in the world of stone masonry.

The Pey-Berland tower, a flamboyant Gothic structure built between 1440 and 1466, is the bell tower of Saint-André cathedral in Bordeaux. La Méca is the House of the creative and cultural economy in New Aquitaine. It hosts the cultural agencies of the region dedicated to the performing arts, books, cinema and the FRAC Aquitaine. Located on the quays of Paludate, the building rises 37 meters high and offers, from its open-air terrace, one of the most impressive views of Bordeaux. Completed in 1860, the bridge was used as a railway track in the past. Threathened with demolition before finally being listed as a historical monument in 2010, its highlighting today promises its revival.
