Near the center of Bègles and the ring road is the beach of the lake of Bègles. During the summer season, swimming is practiced on an area of 1000 m² and a depth of up to 1m80. Inhabited since the 12th century, it is distinguished by its chapel, now converted into a theatre, its beautiful plantations and its playgrounds. As early as the 12th century, monks settled on the upper part of the park to protect themselves from the strong tides of the Garonne and organized a self-sufficient life. Six centuries later, the park was part of a vast agricultural estate called Le Tourmalin. The Tour de Gironde à Vélo is a 480 km discovery itinerary, to be done in stages for a day or during a stay: from the vineyards to the ocean, it allows you to discover 10 must-sees, 6 of which are listed as world heritage by UNESCO. Ile d'Arcins is the closest island to Bordeaux. Located 6 km from the centre of Bordeaux, it is also one of the only islands in the Garonne and the estuary to be visited Of elongated shape, it stretches over 2 kilometres and is spread over 37 hectares. Farmed until the war, the island then belongs to INRA. It is then one of the main places of experimentation in France for the improvement of certain plant species. The average temperature is two degrees higher than on land and it hardly ever freezes During the 1999 storm, the island was completely flooded and the buildings were too deteriorated to be repaired. The INRA then decided to sell the island to a private individual who wanted to turn it into a natural park and open it to the public.

Completed in 1860, the bridge was used as a railway track in the past. Threathened with demolition before finally being listed as a historical monument in 2010, its highlighting today promises its revival.

The church of Sainte Geneviève is the first church built in Bordeaux after 1905.
