The village of Queyrac offers a diversity of landscapes forest, vineyard, meadow and marsh thanks to its location between ocean and estuary. Located in the heart of the village, the origin of its construction would go back to the 6th century. It was first a simple chapel dedicated to the cult of Saint Vivien, bishop of Saintes. Threatened with destruction on several occasions, notably during barbarian invasions and religious wars, it was restored and embellished in the 12th century, a period during which its remarkable Romanesque style apse was built and still remains today. In 1957, the church was given a new bell tower. Its somewhat surprising architectural style is still an inexhaustible topic of conversation for visitors and inhabitants of the village.

Situated in the village of l'Hôpital, on the "historical variant" of the Way of St. James between Soulac-sur-Mer and Vendays-Montalivet, the Hospital Chapel, whose foundations date from the 12th century, has been undergoing a certain revival in recent years, mainly due to the association of Friends of the Chapel of St. John the Baptist of the Hospital. This association offers to regularly open the chapel to visits, participate in its preservation and restoration, and organise cultural events (conferences, concerts, exhibitions). Visitors appreciate the freshness and charm of the place. The clarity, simplicity and beauty of the furniture and ornaments are particularly emphasized.

This vineyard was rebuild in 1960 on a gravelly islet. The Château Haut-Gravat stretches over 10 hectares on Jau-Dignac-Loirac, a nice small town. Our two main principles are the following : respect of traditions and nature. Besides, in order to respect our precious environment we don’t use chemical fertizers. Our wines are round and soft and have a very good ageing potential. Don’t hesistate in visiting us, we will be delighted to explain you particularities of our wines.

It all began in the 17th century with the work carried out by the Flemish to drain the marshes. Dykes and channels were cleared, sending rainwater from the land towards the estuary. This work enabled the village to develop, with the transport of goods such as linseed oil, wool, paper, draperies and flour. Flour was the product of more than twenty mills, some of which can still be seen in the commune.

Miam-Miam Glou-Glou has been welcoming you for many years. The sunny terrace or shady area is a great place to take advantage of any occasion! The menu features a multitude of delights, from pizzas to regional dishes, not forgetting ice creams and crêpes.
