We have chosen an outbuilding which was originally used as a shepherd’s hut and later as a plum drying shed. The restoration of this building has just been completed. We propose a studio of 24m² with a half separation between the kitchen area and the sleeping area, a bathroom with Italian shower and toilet. The Church of Saint Germain de Paris, in Rouffignac, is the jewel of the village for two reasons: on the one hand, because of the beauty of the building, classified as a historical monument in 19002, and on the other hand, as the only survivor, with two adjoining houses, of the fire of 1944, because it bears witness to its ancestral heritage; it is one of the architectural treasures of the Vallée de l'Homme territory The Renaissance building, built in 1530 on a former Romanesque chapel, is characterised by its combination of Romanesque/Gothic styles, as illustrated by the façade and its remarkable portal. The Renaissance nave presents interior elevations of great homogeneity in their architectural treatment, and its particularity rests in particular on its pillars with engaged columns, decorated with twisted mouldings with sculpted grooves.

The village of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin is a commune in the Barade forest located on the highest hills of the Périgord Noir in the Dordogne, surrounded by a diverse landscape offering wonderful scenery. In Rouffignac you can visit, before or after Lascaux, the Grotte de Rouffignac, also known as the cave of the hundred Mammoths, whose cave paintings can be dated to the final and middle Magdalenian period, i.e. 11,000 years before Christ. The architecture of the village of Rouffignac-Saint Cernin-de-Reilhac differs from that of the surrounding villages due to its tragic history during the Second World War. On 31 March 1944, the village of Rouffignac was all but destroyed by incendiary bombs. Only the church with its portal dating from 1530 and its flamboyant interior along with some neighbouring houses were spared. The village was entirely rebuilt from 1948 onwards.

The fate of Rouffignac was to change on 31 March and 2 April 1944: in retaliation for the actions of the Maquis, the village was completely burnt down by Brehmer's Division, with the exception of the church and the three houses surrounding it; six victims, shot or killed in deportation, paid for these tragic days with their lives. Following these events and on the decision of General de Gaulle, the Cross of War 1939/45, with palms, was awarded to Rouffignac and presented on 11 November 1948 by General Duchet. To commemorate the memory of this dramatic episode in the history of Rouffignac, and the exactions of the bloody week of the Brehmer Division in the Périgord Noir, a "Memory Space" associated with the Tourist Office, was inaugurated on 31 March 2019.
