Hiking. Round trip from Morzine From the Plateau de Nyon (accessed by car via the Route de Joux-Plane), take the path up through the alpine pastures to the Pointe de Nyon (start of the path opposite the Pré Favre chairlift terminus, follow the sign to Lac de Nyon-Guérin/Lac de Joux-Plane/Pointe de Nyon). At the "Creux du Laouet: 1480m" sign, continue in the direction of Lac de Nyon-Guérin. You will soon reach the chalets of Nyon Derrière (1530m) and Nyon du Creux (1620m). Lac de Nyon-Guérin can be seen just behind these chalets (artificial lake for the snow cannons of the Morzine ski area). Return by the same route. You can also take the Pointe de Nyon chairlift to enjoy an exceptional 360° panorama. From the top of the Pointe de Nyon, a new, entirely downhill path leads to Lac de Nyon-Guérin. This variant offers breathtaking views over Morzine and the Vallée d'Aulps.

This wide and famous road leading up to the resort of Avoriaz provides endless opportunities to enjoy the mountain views. Gradient: 6% An iconic route climbed officially for the first time during the 1975 Tour de France. The best time - 33 minutes - still belongs to Bernard Hinault.

This is less difficult than the southern route, but it’s very steep from the off! Highlights include the fine finish area, next to a little lake once you’ve passed the Ranfolly col. Gradient: 6.5%

The Col de La Ramaz is one of the most beautiful passes in Haute-Savoie! You can see Mont Blanc right from the bottom of the climb, and at the summit, the panorama of the entire massif is exceptional. Highlighted by Richard Virenque's fantastic breakaway in the 2003 Tour de France (in which he took the yellow jersey and a stage win in Morzine!), this pass remains a classic to add to your race list.

An interesting circuit to discover the Vallée Verte and its impeccable cycling roads! Beautiful scenery and sporting interest are the order of the day, to satisfy cyclosportifs and cyclotourists alike! Beware of the sometimes steep (Col du Feu) or long (Col de Cou) gradients. A nature walk along the Dranse river following the former Alpine trail to Nyon. Looking out for foxes along the way which are native to this valley. A path to stroll along the Dranse. From the Super Morzine Gondola, take the lift down to the swimming Pool, and start the Dereches river walk. All along the river you will find wooden exercise obsticals, a kids play area, horse stables and tree climbing. A walk not to miss!

A steep road along the beautiful Lac de Montriond. It's hard not to stop, but be sure to do so on the way down. Watch out for the goats in the village of Les Lindarets! Gradient: 6%. This legendary col has featured in the Tour de France seven times. Quite shady at first and consisting of steeper ramps between long false flats, the gradient kicks up to 10% after Montriond. Be careful when going through Les Lindarets, as it is not unusual to find herds of goats nonchalantly occupying the road! The final section of the climb is more regular, zigzagging up through the forest to the Col de Joux verte.

A pleasant walk accessible to all, from the centre of the village to the superb Lac de Montriond. A woodland trail where you can enjoy the natural coolness of summer. Take the time to marvel and recharge your batteries in this green paradise!

A slate-quarry worker welcomes you into his workshop to present the history of Morzine's 200-years old slate industry and demonstrates his modern work-techniques. One of the last slate quarries in France, with the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, we perpetuate this ancestral activity while innovating in extraction and working methods, and offering traditional and fashionable products for roofing, interior and exterior fittings.

This stunning lake - known also as the emerald green lake - sits quietly at the foot of immense cliffs and is a favourite with children and adults thanks to the idyllic vision it offers and the feeling of calm it evokes. Lake Montriond was created after a part of the Nantaux mountain fell away to the north-west. Although it is unclear when this landslide happened - estimates vary from 300 to 4500 years ago!) the landslide created a natural dam in the existing river which became the lake we see today. The water level was nonetheless prone to serious fluctations and a huge project to rectify this was completed in 1990 thanks to Montriond town hall. Since then the tourist industry has flourished... Montriond Lake is a huge outdoor playground with something for everyone...it includes a swimming area that's suitable for even very young swimmers, while other visitors can try pony riding, canoeing, paddle or mini-golf. Older children and adults also enjoy walking around the lake to take in the intoxicating beauty of it all... The Lake is also a jewel of a find for anglers, with its healthy stock of fario trout and rainbow trout, char and tiddlers! A fishing licence is required so enthusiasts must wait until the snow has melted before they can start to uncover the riches that lie beneath the surface... In figures, Montriond Lake is 33 hectares in size, or 25000 to 35000m2 depnding on the water level. Lake Montriond is a Chablais UNESCO Global Geopark Key Site. As you walk around Montriond lake you will discover the glacial history of the valley, the Sarde land registry and also the tale of the extravagant Baron de l'Espée...

Located a 15-minute walk from the Nyon plateau, the artificial lake of Nyon Guérin will delight you with its bluish water and its surrounding mountain pastures.

The majestic Ardent waterfall high above Montriond village is half-way between Lake Montriond and Les Lindarets. It's emblematic of the valley, with its spectacular setting that captures the magic and splendour of the area. Just a stone's throw from Lac de Montriond, the Cascade d'Ardent is the starting point for an attractive forest trail from a bridge over the listed waterfall.

Located at the bottom of the Manche Valley, about 15 minutes from the center of Morzine, this small bucolic lake benefits from a very pleasant environment conducive to walks with its passes, mountain pastures and coniferous forests that surround it. In summer, the Mines d´Or Lake is accessible from the road by car or on foot from Chemin du Renard. Once there, you can walk on the path that goes around the lake, fish (subject to purchasing your fishing license), eat at the Mines d'Or restaurant, go hiking at the Col de Cou at the Swiss border or enjoy a mini-golf party. In winter, the Mines d´Or lake is accessible by ski touring or snowshoeing, the atmosphere is calm and soothing. Access to hiking trails is possible with the necessary safety equipment.

The village of Les Lindarets is a must for all families looking to immerse themselves in a genuine bygone world with its ancient chalets, Alpine meadows and celebrated goats! Thanks to the flourishing goat numbers the village is often known as the Goat Village. Just like the valley's visitors, they too have come to Lindarets to while away the summer months. Visitors big and small often enjoy feeding the goats which are free to roam, always curious and definitely always hungry! Special croquettes are on sale at Cuirland, La Crémaillère and Le Vieux Chalet for €1. In addition, Les Lindarets is also celebrated for its great food, with many restaurants offering menus that marry truly excellent cooking with traditional values. So why not make time for lunch on the village's many sun terraces so you can enjoy a meal packed with flavours harking back to times gone by, with local specialities from the Haute-Savoie... Les Lindarets is also a great starting point for many walks in the mountains. The Brochaux waterfall is only 30 minutes from the village... The village also has souvenir shops and fresh cheese on sale from local producers. The meadows offer an excellent place to picnic too.

The mountain hut is situated at the Col de la Golèse in the middle of an alpine meadow. It offers a wonderful panorama on the south side overlooking the Giffre valley and Samoëns and on Morzine and Manche valley on the north side. Located on the route of the GR5, GRP Dents blanches and Tour du Haut Giffre, the Golèse refuge is a starting point for many hikes, and you can stay here for one or more days in charming rooms or dormitories. Accessible to all from the age of 5 in 1h30 (600m ascent), the refuge was completely rebuilt in the 90s. The Baud family, who own the refuge, have been welcoming you for over 25 years to this charming alpine setting. Along the trail, you'll discover a rich variety of mountain plants and, if you're discreet, all the wild fauna of our mountains. This autumn, come and enjoy the beautiful autumn colors and a fine meal of game. This winter, the ascent will be groomed and you'll be able to access the refuge on snowshoes or cross-country skis.

In the heart of the authentic Abondance valley, join in one hour's walk a beautiful refuge, located at 1500 m altitude at the foot of Mount Grange. It proposes you the accomodation and small restauration. And because a refuge is, first and foremost, a stage on the road of the walker, you only have to follow the path to arrive at the lake of Tavaneuse, at the foot of the mount Grange (2432m) or even to Prétairié . Each building is equipped with a kitchenette with two gas, dishes, bowls and allows those who wish to be autonomous. The large building includes the kitchen, a large dining room and a dormitory of 18 persons. The sheepfold has 13 places, it is a haven of peace, easy to heat in winter thanks to its wood stove. Possibility to sleep in half-board, breakfast+night or in free management. Library, bocce, games for children.

This idyllic alpine pasture in the heart of Les Portes du Soleil, easily accessible on foot or by chairlift, is a popular picnic destination for families and a renowned fishing spot! Built in the 19th century, the Refuge de Chesery was initially just a sturdy cowshed. Renovated in 1987, the bulding was transformed into a welcoming refuge. For over two decades, the refuge was run by the Es-Borrat family, until 2008 when they handed it over William Grenon. He, along with his vast herds of sheep, has been summering here since 1982. You'll find him still here today, caring for his sheep and offering his own local products and Valaisan specialties for sale at the refuge.

Above Samoëns and isolated in the mountains, the Bostan refuge is the ideal place to welcome hikers for a short break or for the night. Accommodation and catering in the mountains.
