Margueron is a commune where the rural imprint remains very much alive. Crops and woods dominate the landscape and the vine finds here a place of choice. The woods are ideal places to recharge one's batteries, to observe the part of nature that still exists, and to escape from everyday life. The woods of Margueron still bear witness to an important activity. Along the way, you will probably come across a palombière, a convivial place for many hunters. You will be able to discover the church of 1730 from the start, and you will enjoy hiking through woods, vineyards and country roads. Don't miss the beautiful view over the valley at the Moulin du Terrier. On the way back to La Roquille, in Les Galineaux-Est, you will see the wash-house and the 18th century fountain, whose well has been preserved since the Gallo-Roman period. Also to see: the 19th century town hall, installed in the Old Temple of the village has a pretty entrance porch and six bays inspired by Romanesque art.

Straddling the valley and the hillsides, this circuit is dominated by vineyards. The culture of the vine (viticulture) is ancient on these hillsides which border the Dordogne valley. But this activity has not always been a dominant culture, as the windmills for the grain testify. However, the vine has always been a recurrent and essential crop for the economy of the region. One can also admire a rich rural heritage such as dovecotes, mills, and wine castles. You will pass in front of the Château de la Bourguette. This former seigniory has become an important wine estate. You will discover its dovecote dating from the 18th century, which under the Ancien Régime was a seigneurial privilege. Nice bucolic stroll on little frequented roads and paths through the Monbazillac appellation vineyards. You will admire in passing the church of St Pierre and the chapel of Saint Mayme.

Little 12-ha-property overlooking at the beautiful Dordogne valley, Château le Tap is located on an old quarry site registered in Napoleonic cadaster, in the place called “Tas de pierre” (i.e. pile of stones) shortened as “au Tap”. This is a excepcional terroir with clay-limestone soils. There are 5,000 vines in each hectare, constituted by 50% of white grape varieties (Sauvignon, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon, Muscadelle et Chenin), and 50% of red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet franc,cabernet Sauvignon et Malbec), they have a great exposure on the hills. Our culture method is organic since 2007, certified in 2010, respecting terroir’s balance, without pesticides nor fertilizers.

The Château of Miaudoux is a farm that Gérard and Nathalie Cuisset have owned since 1987. They started their production and commercialization of Bergerac wine (white, dry and sweet, rosé and red) and Saussignac representing 25ha, and also a production of Agen prune representing 8ha. In 2003, they decided to go from farming to organic agriculture, certified by Ecocert. In 2014, Samuel and Lisa, their son and his wife, have joined the exploitation and now it is also converted in biodynamics, certified by Demeter. Hence, some young parcels are worked with a horse in order to have a contact with the wild world and to minimize the tillage impact. Of course they are looking for the quality of their wines.
