The commune of St-André d?Allas is characterized by a vast forested area, mainly planted with chestnut trees, interspersed with pine forests and meadows on the plateaus or lining the valleys and valleys. Classified as "Historic Monument" in 1926, this Magdalenian prehistoric shelter joins on the right bank of the Beune, nearby Les Eyzies. The remarkable sculpted bestiary of this rock shelter stretches across 13 of the 15 meters of its length. At the origin, the ochre of the cliff face probably lent its colour to the representations of horses, bison and various species of the deer family, which are superimposed in places. Through the vitality and the depth of its reliefs, achieved with flint picks, Cap Blanc is one of the great masterpieces of the monumental art of sculpture of the upper Palaeolithic (35,000 / 10,000 years ago). Between Sarlat and Les Eyzies, the eye is attracted by the beautiful towers of Puymartin. This castle whose foundations date back to the XIIIth century (1270) was destroyed during the Hundred Years War, rebuilt in XVth century (1450) restored in XIXth century (1890) . It still belongs to the same family. It keeps tapestries, furniture, objects and mythological cabinet in grisaille (visited by appointment only). Puymartin is known for the spirit, White Lady.

Dating from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, Château de Puymartin is listed as a Historic Monument.

This 12th century church, deserves a bit of attention. The portal was done again in the 18th century. A recent restoration of the building has very well highlighted the choir in half-moon with sculpted capitals. On both sides of the entrance, notice two beautiful stony clams decorated with scallops. The side chapels date from the 15th century. They are sworn to the Beaumont. Under the dome forming a transept, a circular altar made of an old sandstone millstone has just been added. The 18th century altarpiece was a gift from Monseigneur de Beaumont.

With its Romanesque church rebuilt in the 17th century, its cobbled streets and old houses, Meyrals is a village on the hillsides. It has kept all its authenticity and gives us the opportunity to evoke some of the episodes of the local history. Visit supervised by a guide-lecturer.
