From Terrasson-Lavilledieu to Limeuil, where the Vézère joins the Dordogne, the river runs through one of the most beautiful regions of the Périgord. A region where Man has flourished since prehistoric times and has given birth to one of the jewels of humanity: Lascaux. The route we are proposing reflects this incredible human adventure that has continued up to the present day. This journey is a real concentration of all the riches of the Périgord, which has a heritage of exceptional diversity. Along the way, you will be amazed by a landscape, a Romanesque church, the magnificent abbey of St Amand de Coly, fortresses carved directly into the cliffs, Les Eyzies with its caves and museums, its International Prehistoric Centre .... Not forgetting Lascaux, the Sixtin Chapel of prehistory.

From Terrasson-Lavilledieu to Limeuil, where the Vézère joins the Dordogne, the river runs through one of the most beautiful regions of the Périgord. This first stage will take you from Terrasson to St Amand de Coly. You will discover the old town of Terrasson built around its abbey overlooking the Vézère as well as the gardens of the imagination which dominate the old town. Further on, the path climbs along a cliff where the chapel of St Sour appears, it is in these rocks that the hermit Sorus came to settle. After the mineral plateau of Terrasson, the path ventures into the woods and runs alongside the Coly, a freshwater stream that comes out of a resurgence (the source of La Doux) known for its longest siphon in France. This brook gave its name to the village we passed through before arriving at St Amand de Coly, a village classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

When you arrive in Terrasson-Lavilledieu, you will discover old houses, a 15th century abbey church, two bridges, one of which dates back to the 12th century, a magnificent hillside where Saint Sour, the founding father of Terrasson, once lived, as well as the Jardins de l'Imaginaire (Imaginary Gardens), which retrace the history of gardens throughout the world, and many other curiosities!

This 5km loop combines geological discovery (rock of Saint Sour) and discovery of the rural heritage (bread oven). Marked out with fountains, springs, cavities, oak forests or farms, this route will offer you magnificent panoramas of the Vézère and the Causse Terrassonnais.

The Musée de l'Industrie du Lardin Saint-Lazare is housed in a former local school. It's an interesting place to discover, which has retained all its charm and authenticity. Industry has been present in our valley for a very long time. It's the local industrial history that's on display here. Machinery, photos, videos, objects, testimonials and numerous documents are available to visitors. Children are invited to take part in fun, interactive activities. Temporary exhibitions complete the free tour.

Condat-sur-Vézère was the headquarters of a commandery of the Hospitallers of Saint John since the 12th century. The building was listed as a historical monument on 29 November 1948
