Historically part of the Bas Berry, Boussac has always been a territory of confluence notably between the Auvergne, the Limousin and the Berry through its weekly markets. The Jean de Brosse Château is one of the major elements of local heritage. Guided tours, but also discovery walks around the fortress, allow visitors to discover, among other things, old Boussac thanks to its pedestrianised circuit. Walking trails leaving from Boussac (for walkers and mountain bikers) allow you to discover an unspoilt nature and an astonishing small-scale heritage.

Particularly impressive on its rocky outcrop overlooking the Creuse Valley, Boussac Château has had an eventful history: built in the 12th century, ruined during the Hundred Years War, re-built, fortified then embellished, before being wrecked during the Revolution. George Sand stayed there several times and set part of her country novel 'Jeanne' there and also it's where she discovered the famous "Lady of the Unicorn" tapestries. It became a sub-prefecture, gendarmerie, annex to the fairground where the pigs were kept, it was saved from ruin in 1965 and restored with fine taste by the present owners who now live in it. The visit of the four floors of this Historical Monument – monumental emblazoned fireplaces, tapestries, an immense kitchen with unusual utensils, ancient panelling, furniture of the era… – is often completed by presentation of its unusual collections (canes, fonts…

Located on the main square of Boussac, near the castle, Le Grand Café des Sports welcomes you in an atmosphere of simplicity and conviviality, with its typically Bistrot decor. The chef cooks fresh, seasonal produce, and offers every day in addition to the dish a butcher's room (the meat is Limousine!). Various events throughout the year: themed evenings, concerts, broadcasting of sporting events ... From Easter to Toussaint: open every day except Mondays with lunch and dinner (reservation recommended). On average and low season: open from Tuesday to Saturday. Our 3 star hotel is an old coaching inn, located in the heart of Boussac. It is a perfect combination of historical charm and modern comfort. Ideal for business trips and family holidays. We have 9 rooms, each with its own bathroom, bathtub, shower, TV. Babies' cots available (please book). Our traditional French restaurant has a shady terrace and a seminar room. Our chef's fine cuisine is seasonal.

The new Chef, Anita Moir, Kiwi* born, now splits her time between catering in London and France London and France is very comfortable, she assures us, with creating vegan dishes, but is equally is just as happy preparing a casserole with meat, or a cake with eggs. "As long as I know my ingredients are from good sources, I'm happy to create a meal with most of them." Anita describes her cooking as "'homely deli' style as if made at home".

The owners work with local producers to get the best products while enhancing the region! Booking is recommended. In summer: concert every 1st Saturday of the month and Menu seafood on the last Saturday of the month. On site: Tree Adventure Trail, mini-golf, Laser Game, and children's games.
