Discover the rural heritage of Saint-Martial-le-Mont, the sunken lanes and picturesque streets of the village on this 3 km circuit! Information panels on the 14 places of interest are installed along the route, which crosses the Chézades stream twice. A picnic area has been set up on the banks of the Creuse for a moment of relaxation.

Go to the end of the road, then turn left, cross the village of Sémenon and take the track on your right. At the end of the track, turn right, cross the Voutouéry stream and continue to the road. It consists of three main parts and was built as an extension of the chapel dependent on the castle of the Counts of St Julien. On the west side of the church, one can admire a stone altar built by Abbot Boudard, in front of which is erected a wrought iron fleur-de-lys cross.

11th / 12th-century church, fortified in the 14th / 15th century. Situated up on a high point, the church, which is dedicated to St Médard, the Norwegian bishop of Noyon, watches over the Creuse valley. The original building consists of a nave with two bays, ending with a semicircular apse from the 11th and 12th centuries. You can admire its stone altar on Gallo-Roman columns, a stoup and a granite baptismal basin; the latter is adorned with a sawtooth and egg-shaped motif.

To see: Crypt, XIII century enamelled reliquary representing St Peter, Saint Madelaine's sacred fountain.

The château of Haute-Faye is mentioned on the Cassini map in the 18th century. The drinking fountain is carved into its surrounding wall and was used to supply the herds on their way to the Chénérailles fair.

Her long curly hair is crowned with oak leaves and a star, and she wears a Phrygian cap. She is 1.21m high and 71cm wide. The artist wanted to achieve a bronze patina effect. On the reverse is the inscription "Oh dear Republic, be our North Star, guide us to a future of wisdom and prosperity". This pedestal-mounted bust was made using the staff or mousseline-plastie or light plastic technique, which involves hollowing out the sculpture with a wire frame and probably a metal frame. While retaining its solidity, this process ensures greater lightness. This work is signed by sculptor Eugène Denis Arrondelle (1824 - 1907) and dated 1898. From 1886 to 1907, Arrondelle was chief sculptor and painter in the Louvre molding workshop, as well as a contractor for the City of Paris. IMH

The church dates from the 13th century. It features a 13th-century portal with boudins and colonnettes, 15th-century vaulting and 17th-18th-century wooden statues. Next to the entrance is a remarkable granite cross. Don't forget to walk around the church, where you'll find a granite millstone and an old well.
