Discover Biguglia on two trails: the Biguglia Village trail immerses you in the atmosphere of the village, while the Sant'Andria Chapel trail takes you to the Sant'Andria chapel, at the heart of a trail as artistic as it is natural. Hidden sculptures, painted trees, colourful characters... a local artist has sown his imagination all along the way, to the delight of young and old alike. A picnic area awaits you at the chapel. Be careful, though: the trail crosses several waterholes - avoid them in wet weather because of the mud and flooding, but enjoy them in fine weather! Biguglia Village trail : Start from the village car park: 42.627197, 9.421073 (Alt. 113m) Length of walk (excluding breaks): 40 min. Distance covered: 500m Difference in altitude: D+40m / D-40m Difficulty: Easy 1) Start from the car park of the 16th-century baroque church of Saint-André. Meet in front of the church. Here you can see the Étang de Biguglia, also known as the Etang de Chjurlinu. Retrace your steps to the war memorial. 2) Go back up to the crossroads 50m further up. 3) Turn right, then slightly left, and take the lane (not the road), then continue for 80 metres to reach the piazza di l'avvene. 4) To the left of the piazza, looking towards the sea, is a ruined tower. This is an ancient Genoese tower dating back to the 16th century, marking the fortified boundary of the village in the Middle Ages. Opposite the fountain (with your back to the sea), take the stone steps, then turn right. After about twenty steps turn left, then left again at the top of the stairs, to reach the piazza di u chjalzu (mulberry tree square). 5) From here, cross the square and continue towards the vault, but before you do, look out for the cannonball above the door on your left. Start to descend slightly to reach the wash-house 70 metres below. 6) To get to the Sant'Andria Chapel path, continue along the route. If you want to turn around, leave the house on your left and then turn left again and after 100m you will find the crossroads. 7) Cross the road back to the car park. Sant'Andria Chapel path : Start from the village car park: 42.626335, 9.419397 (Alt. 154m) Walking time (excluding breaks): 90 min. Distance covered: 3.5Kms Difference in altitude: D+190m / D-190m Difficulty: Medium 1) From the washhouse, take the concrete steps. Continue for 380m through undergrowth, taking care to read the botanical trail signs. 2) At the fork in the path, you can discover one of the many tree sculptures along the way. trail. Continue on the "lower" path and follow the yellow and blue waymarked path, in the colours of Biguglia. 3) Take a break at the "pagliaghju" (straw huts), 1100m from the washhouse. Begin the short but "sporty" climb to the ruined chapel. 4) Sant' Andria di Fabrica chapel lies at 343m altitude, the highest point of the walk. At this point, you will have covered 1900m from the start. From the chapel, continue along the plateau for about 50m. 5) At the dry fountain, turn right. Descend under the oak grove, skirting a water pipe for 1,200 m to reach 2. 6) From the burnt chestnut tree and its sculpture, walk a few metres, turn left and return along the same path. Discover Lucciana along two accessible trails steeped in history. The first takes you through the heart of the village, past quiet lanes and restored heritage sites such as the Funtanelle. The second, longer route takes you to the magnificent San Michele chapel, perched among the hills. Beware, however, that there is little shade on this route, so make sure you're well equipped, especially in summer, and adjust your pace with children. Distance covered: 1Km Difference in altitude: D+40m / D-40m Difficulty: Easy Suggestion: Why not enjoy a "blue plate" rally? 1) From the car park, look for your 1st sign "Piazza u Suru" and turn right towards the bar, then right again towards the church. 2) From "Piazza San Michele" look for "Ricciata Suprana" - leave the church on your right and walk up to "Piazza di a funtana" (watering hole). 3) A few metres further up, in Piazza u Zi, look for sign "1" and go down the stairs to the start of the San Michele path. Turn left into Funtanella Suprana. Leave the Terraghjule Suprane on your right. When you reach Piazza Caserna, turn right towards Carrughju a Teppa, and from Piazza a Teppa go down the stairs to Piazza Zia Memetta. Continue towards Stretta a Ghjesa, which we'll leave on the left. When you reach Carrughju Funtanella Sottane - which marks the end of the San Michele path - turn left and a few metres further on turn right into A Piazzetta. Continue downhill until you reach Piantò. 4) Piazza Piantò, with its superb stone arch, overlooks the Mormorana stream. Mark the 76 to reach Piazza San Anghjulu 5. 5) From Piazza San Anghjulu, walk up Ricciata Suttana and then past Piazza Casò. Finally, turn right towards the car park. Distance covered: 3Kms Difference in altitude: D+130m / D-130m Difficulty: Medium 1) From the car park, look for your 1st sign "Piazza u Suru" and turn right towards the bar, then right again towards the church. From Piazza San Michele, look for Ricciata Suprana and leave the church on your right to climb up to Piazza di a Funtana (watering hole). 2) A few metres further up, in the "Piazza u Zi", look for and descend the steps to reach the start of the San Michele path. Turn right towards "Funtanella Suprana"; this is where the path begins. A footbridge leading to the "Funtanelle" has been built, providing access to this village centre where the Luccianinchi (inhabitants of Lucciana) used to come to collect water and wash their clothes. 3) Once you reach the river, continue your ascent through the forest. Take advantage of this remarkable viewpoint to observe nature and why not take a few photos before starting your descent along a dirt path. 4) From the San Michele Chapel, take a break. Calling all hikers looking for a challenge! The Scolca trail is the most demanding proposed by the Marana-Golo Tourist Office, but also one of the wildest. It crosses the Mala Notte woods, a dense forest of pubescent holm oaks, offering shady passages perfect for taking a break in the heart of nature. This loop allows you to discover both the charm of the village and the richness of its wooded surroundings. Scolca path : Start from the Church of San Mamilianu: 42.530542, 9.363545 (Alt. 590m) Length of walk (excluding breaks): 3h Distance covered: 5.5Kms Difference in altitude: D+390m / D-390m Difficulty: Medium Please note: It is best to park at the entrance to the village and walk up to the church. 1) As soon as you set off, notice the campanile (separate bell tower) of San Mamilianu church, built in the 17th century. Take the road opposite (leaving a fountain on the left) leading to the top of the village for 150m. 2) Start sign for "Giru di San Mamilianu". Follow the path through a beautiful chestnut grove, then enter the thick into the thick Malanotte wood (the cursed night) to reach the crossroads of the fountain (no water) at 2.2 km. This place has a very special and strange atmosphere. 3) At the crossroads, there are two signs: the one on the right leads to "Bocca a Foata"; the one on the left is for "Chjassu di San Mamilianu", which you should follow. Be careful when crossing the forest. Note the presence of "aghje" (wheat threshing floors) and charcoal kilns (used for traditional charcoal-making). 4) Arrive at a small plateau and reach the crossroads leading to Cammare. 5) 100 m further on, on the right, there is a magnificent viewpoint (922 m) over the entire mountain range, the valley and its villages. Take a well-deserved break... 6) Retrace your steps back to point 4. Continue for about 30m. 7) Mark the start of the descent on your left. Do not venture onto an unmarked path. On the way down, the path crosses a forest track several times; you will need to pay attention again to follow the path. You'll come across the ruins of Pastricciola and its "lenze" (terraced gardens). Continue 1.5 km downhill to reach the path leading to the cross overlooking the village of Scolca. The view over the valley and surrounding villages is impressive. 8) Leave the main path and head 100 metres further on to marker 754. 9) At "San Simone", after yet another "superb photo", retrace your steps. 10) Continue down the slightly bumpy descent to Scolca Paese 800m further down. 11) It's a very picturesque walk through the village. The Olmo trail invites you to take a leisurely stroll around the village, combining nature and local heritage. Olmo trail : Start from the village car park: 42.496490, 9.408563 (Alt. 545m) Length of walk (excluding breaks): 3h Distance covered: 5.3Kms Difference in altitude: D+120m / D-102m Difficulty: Easy 1) Go left (with your back to the war memorial) for 70m, then take the concrete road on your right. your right. 2) From the junction, climb up to the hairpin bend. 3) From the gate, walk under the chestnut grove for 400m to reach the dirt track. After 20m, take the right-hand fork leading to 7: Stollu - this should not be used. 4) Once you are on the track, turn right and climb 950m. 5) On your right, spot the path leading to Stollu 7. Opposite you is the path leading down to Viscuvatu (Vescovato). To get to the lookout point, continue along the track 200m further on. 6) You'll come to the picnic area at U Macinaggiu, with its lovely viewpoint. back to point 5. 5) Take the path towards l'Olmu (Olmo) at the sign for 750m. Follow the path to the left of the track you saw on the outward journey. At the high point (cairn) look to your right, and you will see the ruins of the Castellucciu fort and the the artificial lake. 7) From Stollu, continue along the path towards the pass; on your right, look out for "u Nespulu" which means "the medlar tree". 8) From Bocca Calanchella (the shortcut back to the village) continue slightly uphill and then, after a short descent, you will come to another junction leading to the Carcheroni pass, on your left. Here you take the Strada Pascal PAOLI. 9) Go down the track on your right and after 800m and a few hairpins you are on the RD10. Leave the cemetery on your right. 10) Once on the road, turn right and continue for 400m, with a view of the village and its church. 11) On your left is the church of Sainte Julitte et Saint Quilicus. 12) Another 50 metres and you're back at the start car park. Ideal for a family outing, the Campitello walk is short, shady and perfectly laid out with steps and railings for maximum comfort and safety. It takes you through the outskirts of the village, along the river, to the famous rock of the apparitions of the Virgin, a place of pilgrimage imbued with serenity. Campitello path : Start from the municipal car park: 42.52735, 9.31619 (alt. 522m) Length of walk (excluding breaks): 1 hour Distance covered: 2.2 km Difference in altitude: D+110m / D-110m Difficulty: easy 1) From the car park, go back up to the road and turn left towards the bottom of the village towards the hamlet of Panicale. 2) 60 m further on, you will come to the war memorial (cannon). Mark the path that leads to the hamlet of Bagnolo. Continue 50 m downhill to reach the parish church of San Petru. 3) San Petru church, whose origins date back to the 14th century, is located behind the Casa cumuna (town hall). After a short break in front of the church, head for the bottom of the village, a cul-de-sac for vehicles, following the "Madonna" signs. 4) Reach the San Roccu chapel (remarkable blood and gold doors), turn left and continue towards the bottom of the village. You will enter the oak grove and its magnificent terraced gardens: "e lenze". Originally, these olive groves enabled the owners to harvest their olives and extract their oil. The mill "u fragnu" is located 50 metres below. 5) You have arrived at the site of the 4 apparitions rocks. Campitello shares something in common with Lourdes in that it was the site of apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Between 1899 and 1912, Madeleine Parsi, known as Lélléna, and other villagers witnessed these apparitions. 6) After a rejuvenating break, retrace your steps back to the car park 1.1 km up the hill. If you still have some strength left, continue towards the hamlet of Bagnolo along the path marked earlier (distance approx. 100 m one way / 50 m climb) to discover the chapel of the Immaculate Conception, which contains the painting of the same name by the painter Francesco Carli, dating from 1760-1770.
