This route leads you from the village, through the neighborhoods and into the forest to an observation point where you can watch the grey cranes during their stay in the Landes de Gascogne (from November to February).

Drive along the small roads of the Gironde high moor through a discovery circuit of the airials, a traditional "open" habitat. Around a vast expanse of short grass, there is a manor house with a large awning facing east, houses and outbuildings.

The path follows a section of the Bazas-Mios cycle track, located on the former line of the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer Economiques. This circuit is located around Saint-Symphorien where François Mauriac's parents had a holiday chalet built. The young Mauriac, until his teenage years, travelled through these places, which remain unchanged today, and drew much of his inspiration from them.

Discover Noaillan with the Municipal Youth Council! On the initiative of the Municipal Youth Council, the heritage trail was inaugurated on 17 November 2018. You leave from the site of Antonion on the edge of Ciron, you go up the Ciron river to discover the castle of Noaillan, the church, the children's forest, the Dubernet estate, the wash-house. This 2 hour walk along the water will make you discover the heritage of Noaillan. On the route, you will discover QR-Codes that you can flash with your smartphone to access additional information. This route is accessible to everyone, even children.

Between pine forests and remarkable heritage, the Bazas-Mios bicycle path enchants both sportsmen and bicycle lovers. This stage of the Tour de Gironde by bike crosses a part of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park and offers varied landscapes.

Château Guiraud takes its name from a Bordeaux negociant, Pierre Guiraud, who purchased the estate in 1766. Included among the first growths in the 1855 classification, Château Guiraud has more than a hundred hectares of vines. This magnificent property is well-known for their natural approach to viticulture. This entailed building an insect hotel, planting five kilometers of hedges, developing genetic diversity, studying and propagating vines in a conservatory, etc. Château Guiraud is currently the only first growth in the 1855 classification to be officially certified for organic viticulture. The estate’s ecological orientation helps to produce great wines with a strong personality and tremendous finesse. Château Guiraud is profound and well-focuses with fruity and mineral flavours of extreme freshness.

Founded in the eighteenth century, Château La Tour Blanche is a 40 hectares estate located in the commune of Bommes. The last owner, Daniel "Osiris" Iffla, left the chateau to the French state, on the condition that a Wine School was set up offering free practical experience.

At the top of one of these horseshoe-shaped dunes (Doucs in Gascony), shaped by westerly winds since the end of the last Ice Age, you can feel the wave-like sand formations with all their attendant legends. In the 19th century, with the great sewage works, the forest came to cover and freeze this ancient world. The artist imagined the sea before the sand, and brought up from the depths a giant copy of a small crack in a rock. From its cracked base, you can see the shafts of a colossal forest, the likes of which once existed on our planet, and are bathed in a light that draws flocks of birds on the walls.

The arboretum was created in the 90s and expanded considerably after 2002. From a total of around 30 hectares, 12 to 15 are devoted to the planting of various species of deciduous and coniferous trees. The main aim is to ensure maximum biodiversity in the particular conditions of acidic, sandy moorland. This environment, with its widely fluctuating water table (hydromorphism), requires appropriate maintenance and care to ensure the health of the planted species. The park boasts a large collection of oaks from a wide variety of origins (around 180 taxa), as well as a good selection of species including Nyssa, Carya, Frexinus, Zelkova and, of course, a large number of individual trees. This biodiversity also has an effect on the park?s wildlife, which is becoming increasingly numerous.

An observation point with free access in the summer has been set up on the edge of agricultural fields to observe these "grey ladies" during the winter period from 10 am to 4 pm approximately. A palisade in brande makes it possible to look at them discreetly with binoculars, without disturbing them. To get there, go in front of the village inn (a pleasant lunch break before or after observing the cranes) and follow the loop of cranes marked out with wooden stakes along the paths to reach the observation site. Of the primitive construction of the 12th century, only the chevet remains. The very high gabled bell tower dates from the 14th century. The central nave was rebuilt in the 16th century. The aisles were built between the 16th and 18th centuries. The turret of the staircase was rebuilt in the 18th century.

The old parish of Insos was under the Ancien Régime, under the lordship of Cazeneuve for the temporal. After the revolution, it was attached to Préchac. This church, isolated in the middle of the moor, was recently restored. The Romanesque chevet, well preserved, is pierced with lancets and topped by a cornice with sculpted and historiated modillions. It has a very beautiful buttressed gable bell tower, of a homogeneous military character from the 14th century. To the north, it receives a turret containing a spiral stairway. The portal opens at the base, simple and elegantly built, and comprises three colonettes with imposts, three vaults and an archivolt.

About sixty kilometres south of Bordeaux, near Bazas, Cazeneuve château is particularly known for being the residence of the Kings of Navarre. Overlooking the Ciron Valley, Cazeneuve is a beautiful example of a medieval castle, surrounded by an impressive allure. Discover that the Albret Nobility lived there from the 13th century, followed by famous owners, with the most famous being Henry IV. In the royal apartments, furnished with perfectly preserved furniture from the era, admire the marital bed which the “Vert Galant” shared with Queen Margot. If the interior is exciting and full of treasures which have survived the centuries, you can also stroll around the park among the towering pine trees and discover the Queen’s cave and the bamboo garden.
