The arboretum was created in the 90s and expanded considerably after 2002. From a total of around 30 hectares, 12 to 15 are devoted to the planting of various species of deciduous and coniferous trees.
The main aim is to ensure maximum biodiversity in the particular conditions of acidic, sandy moorland. This environment, with its widely fluctuating water table (hydromorphism), requires appropriate maintenance and care to ensure the health of the planted species.
The park boasts a large collection of oaks from a wide variety of origins (around 180 taxa), as well as a good selection of species including Nyssa, Carya, Frexinus, Zelkova and, of course, a large number of individual trees.
This biodiversity also has an effect on the park?s wildlife, which is becoming increasingly numerous.
