Departing from the commune of Masseret-Lamongerie, this 33-kilometer mountain bike trail promises an authentic immersion in the heart of a preserved natural territory. With its 500-meter vertical drop, it is aimed at sports enthusiasts looking for a varied, fast-paced itinerary that is also accessible to electrically-assisted mountain bikes (EABs). The route alternates forest paths, rolling trails and more technical sections, offering an excellent balance between difficulty and riding pleasure. Along the way, nature lovers will enjoy a succession of landscapes characteristic of the region and typical villages.

Overlooking the town is a medieval-looking tower, a recent construction actually housing a water tower. At its summit, an orientation table offers exceptional panoramic views, notably of the Monédières massif and the Sancy mountains. Below, the church of Sainte-Catherine features a Limousin portal with a richly sculpted pink granite archivolt. In the choir, a Renaissance niche houses an enamelled shrine to Sainte-Valérie, a delightful 13th-century piece testifying to the worldwide renown of Limousin enamel art. The heritage trail, punctuated by some twenty explanatory panels, allows you to discover Le Masseret Ancien.

In the village. The Masseret tower is a medieval-looking structure built in 1957. It is in fact a water tower, built on a high point where a fortified castle once stood. At its summit, an orientation table offers a panoramic view all the way to the Monts d'Auvergne. Since 2023, panels have been installed to help visitors read the landscape and discover the history of the commune. The Tour de Masseret is open to the public every day.

Located 500 m south of the village. The forerunner of the wooden castle, it is a mound 50 m in diameter and four to 8 m high, located 1.5 km west of the village.

This serpentine heathland, one of the most beautiful in the region, covers some twenty hectares. Although it lost its rocky chaos in the 1950s to stone the roads used for land consolidation, the site retains its picturesque appearance of mesophilic heath, with small patches of Fétuque de Léman lawn. The site is home to the only Limousin station of Gentian champêtre. There are also some fine views of the Monédières (19) and Mont Gargan (87) from the high point of this heathland. Natura 2000 site.
