Starting from the Dordogne valley, you will follow the Combejean stream and discover its waterfalls set in a wild environment. You will then dominate the Dordogne river. Be careful, the passage of the waterfalls can be difficult.

This equestrian tour takes in the medieval town of Beaulieu sur Dordogne, famous for its remarkable abbey church, whose portal, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, is comparable to that of Moissac. Take a stroll through the narrow streets and admire the Chapelle des Pénitents, with its bell-wall reflected in the waters of the Dordogne. Around Beaulieu, you'll discover numerous Romanesque churches, a rich vernacular heritage and the masterpiece of the Reygades tomb.

From the Dordogne, a beautiful climb of more than 300 m will lead you to superb points of view on this beautiful river but also on the surrounding plateaus and in particular that of Roche de Vic.

Where does the Limousin end and the Quercy begin? From the square tower of Queyssac-les-Vignes, the land of mulled wine, the eye wanders between the castle of Turenne, the Dordogne valley and the Causse de Martel in the distance. From the Saint-Blaise chapel to the Battut manor house, from crosses to fountains, you will discover the viewpoints that adorn this circuit.

Sheltered by its three castles, the medieval village of Curemonte stretches along a line of ridges overlooking the valleys of the Sourdoire and Maumont. This tour will take you on a journey through history, thanks to its remarkable built heritage. Genoises and flat tiles, gardens overlooking the valley, winegrowers' houses and sandstone buildings in harmony with the landscape mark the transition to the Quercy.

On the heights of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, recently classified as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’, in the heart of the small, calm and peaceful village of Sioniac, let the sound of the bells and the crowing of the roosters punctuate your days. This charming half-timbered house (classified as a 3* tourist accommodation) has been renovated by us. You'll be just 5 minutes' drive from the centre of Beaulieu, with its shops and access to the Dordogne (2.5km). Our house (approx. 75 m²) is fully equipped and comprises : - 1 bedroom with queensize bed (160x200 - Bedding from August 2024) - a large living room with a fully-equipped open-plan kitchen - separate shower room and wc - upstairs, a large family bedroom with 1 double bed (140x190) and 2 single beds (90x180). The house is fully air-conditioned (reversible air-conditioning) and has free fibre optic access.

The chapel was built in the 12th century. After being partially damaged during the Hundred Years' War, it was restored thanks to a loan from a wealthy family. It was sold as national property during the French Revolution. In 1820, it was bought by the Pénitents bleus brotherhood. The brotherhood disappeared at the end of the 19th century, after having had a great influence on the town. The chapel's most striking feature is its magnificent five-bay bell tower. The chapel's chevet is simple, with a triplet of apsidioles and Limousin moldings.

The Benedictine abbey was founded in the 9th century by Rodolphe de Turenne, Archbishop of Bourges. He installed monks from Solignac. In the early 12th century, the community became affiliated to the Cluny order. The majestic Limousin Romanesque edifice is built in pale ochre sandstone, according to the plans of a large monastic pilgrimage church. It is dominated by a dungeon bell tower. The abbey church is best known for its remarkable early 12th-century sculpted tympanum depicting the return of Christ at the end of time - the Parousia - with a majestic Christ in the center. The tympanum was carved by image carvers from Toulouse.

Together with the castle, the church was given to the Beaulieu monastery by its founder, Rodolphe de Turenne. Of Romanesque origin, it was destroyed at the same time as the castle around 1378 by Jean de Castelnau, who had 80 people burnt to death while in conflict with the abbot of Beaulieu. It offers a magnificent view over the valley. It was rebuilt in the 15th century. It features a canted sanctuary with prismatic ribs leading to a wooden ceiling. A two-bay chapel with Gothic arches, dedicated to Saint John, was added on the south side. In 1634, on the orders of the Bishop of Limoges, the altar belonging to the family of Jean de Canthony (founder of a vicarage in 1362), previously located in the nave, was transferred to this chapel. This vicarage gave this family ‘perpetual burial in front of the altar’. The square bell tower is covered.

A medieval town on the right bank of the Dordogne, Beaulieu has been dubbed "one of the most beautiful villages in France", thanks to its mild climate, ideal for growing strawberries. Beaulieu's main attraction is its remarkable Saint-Pierre abbey church, whose portal, a masterpiece of Romanesque art depicting the return of Christ at the end of time, is comparable to that of Moissac. Stroll through the narrow streets, compare the turreted facades, decorated with medallions and cherubs, like the house of Adam and Eve, and dream of the Chapelle des Pénitents and its bell-wall reflected in the waters of the Dordogne. Nearby, you can board a gabare from May to October, to relive the epic story of the gabariers who sailed down to Libourne to deliver their loads of wood for the Bordeaux cooperage.

On his farm in Nonards, Patrice Bisotto is gradually developing his small walnut oil production business. Since 2009, he has been harvesting walnuts from his 2.5 ha of walnut trees, some of which he processes into first cold-pressed oil. He turns this nut into a precious product with multiple virtues, guaranteeing its nutritional qualities. His handcrafted oil is fruity and fragrant, ideal for seasoning small dishes or for use in the bathroom.
