Rather easy hike, with beautiful views on the gorges of the Guiers river and the countryside. On the plateau of La Ravoire, many different species of birds live together in the splendid forest. Enjoy the song of the numerous wren and winter wren. (1) From Pont St-Martin, take the path of L’Échaillon which goes up in zigzag to the plateau of La Ravoire. Follow the GR9 signs towards the East. (2) The path overhangs the Gorges of L’Échaillon, where the Guiers Vif river runs, and passes near a belvedere. Be careful, no barriers there. Take the GR9 again and leave it after 500 meters to turn towards the North (yellow signs). (3) Cross the prehistoric site of La Fru, to meet the Charmilles’ car park. Follow the GR9 for about 200 meters before meeting a yellow marked path on the right. Cross the plateau of La Ravoire to the junction marked with a directional pole. (4) From there you can go back and forth to reach the splendid belvedere overhanging the hamlet of La Grotte. Go back to the junction, take again the yellow marked path towards the South. After walking along the escarpment overhanging the valley, meet again the GR9 to come back to the starting point. If you want, you can go to contemplate the gorge, to do so, cross the roman bridge. Be careful if you are with children.

Col des Mille Martyrs, north of the Chartreuse, is an easy ascent with a beautiful view of the massif.

Located at the junction of the 2 Guiers Rivers, the Sauget is a nice artificial lake of 1ha. It welcomes an important population of roaches, tenches, carps and some pikes. Accessible for person with reduced mobility thanks to an equipped track, pontoon and a carpark. No Kill fishing for all species except pike (catch of one pike per day) Large numbers of roach and rotengle can be caught using any technique, from a simple rod and reel to a waggler, corn, maggot or worm with a good groundbait. On the lake, the best times are from April to the end of September. Common carp, leather or mirror, can be fished with boilies, corn hairs or all bottom baits. Tench, beautiful and majestic, often wandering along the bottom on hot summer days, can be a thrill to catch in the evening. The perch, a beautiful zebra, is not very abundant in the lake, but it is home to some large specimens: fishing for it with a spoon or lure can provide some pleasant surprises. Pike, also in small numbers as they have never been stocked, are nevertheless present with some fine specimens, and who knows? The chance of a livebait or a lure could give this magnificent fish a superb fight.

The museum, created in 1989, is located in an old house in the Saint-Bruno district. It presents the studio fund of the painter Lucien Mainssieux and the collection of works he built up throughout his life, mainly paintings from the 19h and 20th centuries. Throughout his life, Lucien Mainssieux (1885-1958) collected works dating from the end of the 19th century, as well as those of his fellow students. He had an obsession : to create a museum for these works and to be its custodian… This collection is the testimony of the glance of the artist on the art, so its interests for the landscape painters of the XIX° century, for the Orientalist works as well as for his contemporaries and friends.

As you enter this new museum space, you will stroll through the old production site in 7 spaces that symbolize the major periods in the history of Chartreuse liqueurs. From the origins of the Elixir to the birth of the liqueur or the foundation of the brand, you will be able to see nearly 1200 original pieces, never before exhibited. The tour continues through a space entirely dedicated to the plants that represent the basis of the manufacture of the monks' liqueurs. A rare 11th-century Romanesque church listed as a Historic Monument, open to visitors and hosting one of France's oldest Chamber Music Festivals, free concerts and temporary contemporary art exhibitions. Restored in 1964 by the artist Roger Lorin, the church has since been dedicated to the visual arts and music. The international festival is one of the oldest chamber music festivals in France, offering the chance to hear the best French and international ensembles in this venue with its exceptional acoustics (full programme on the website). Finally, the site of the 11th-century Romanesque Priory, adorned with frescoes and listed as a Historic Monument, is open to visitors (self-guided tours or guided tours for groups by appointment). This remarkable heritage is classified by the State as a historical monument. The Saint-Bruno church is a religious building, located in the heart of Voiron. The Carthusians made an important financial contribution to the construction of this monument, and it is therefore in thanks to the Carthusian order that the church took the name of their founder Saint Bruno. Work of the Diocesan architect Monsieur Berruyer on the advice of the great architect Viollet le Duc, it opened in 1872 and was consecrated on May 22, 1883. This church has been classified as historical monuments since January 11, 2007. Outside, on the entrance side, two arrows surmount the first two bays of the aisles. The monumental entrance includes a main portal flanked by two narrower portals. The rose window, imitated from that of Notre-Dame de Paris, surrounded by two glass roofs make up the 2nd level. The third level ends in a triangular pediment. The two identical spiers include two additional levels: the last is decorated with four bell towers and a tuff spire. Each level is separated from the previous one by a gallery. The height of the arrows (67 meters) is equal to the greatest length of the building; we therefore respected this rule of medieval construction. The exterior ornamentation uses the usual decorations of Gothic architecture: pinnacles, gargoyles ... To create many decorative elements of the church, we used a new technique at the time: cast concrete. Gray gold (cement), as it is called today, has been widely used in the region. This material, unfortunately sensitive to atmospheric pollution, degrades rapidly: consolidation work had to be carried out. The Gothic-style stained-glass windows, by the Parisian glass master Laurent Gzell, represent the bible in pictures. Listed as a historic monument in 1973, the church organ was purchased from the parish of St François de Sales in Lyon in 1883 and consists of 4 keyboards, a pedal board, 41 stops and 200 pipes. A vast place to stroll and relax in the heart of Voiron where you can discover several species of trees, most of which are centuries old. The Saint-Pierre church is one of the oldest buildings in Voiron, built at the foot of a hill which was occupied in Gallo-Roman times. It is probable that a first private domanial chapel was built at this location during the Carolingian period and subsequently transformed into a parish church. The medieval church, which was accessed by a bell tower-porch, was enlarged in the 1826th century by the addition of five Gothic chapels. The church was extensively altered in 1921, then by other works between 1927 and XNUMX. In 1965, restoration work gave the interior of the building the sobriety we know today. Note in the choir: the 1821th century stalls, a painting offered by the Dode de la Brunerie in XNUMX, representing a virgin and child from the Spanish school, a descent from the cross, painting on canvas by the Flemish school of XNUMXth century and, in the Saint-Joseph chapel, a 17th century painting on wood, depicting the vow of Louis XIII (representing the four brothers of Wales).
