The Loue is a tributary of the Isle which flows in a valley that can take on the appearance of a gorge. The proposed route allows you to go down to the river either by making a return trip from Ganduras, or by going out on the left bank by the hamlet of Gautherie and enjoying a beautiful view of the hamlet of Essendieras, which is home to a rich history that begins in the center of the village with a Romanesque church with a bell tower-wall, overlooking a square surrounded by stone houses. Going down to the river, a good fountain welcomed the processions coming from the church, to sprinkle themselves and make ablutions. Its virtues were numerous, and it could calm pains or favour a marriage. A little further on, the remains of a Gallic wall dating from 600 or 500 BC appear.

Château d’Hautefort is located 28 km north of Montignac and the Lascaux caves in the Vézère Valley of the Dordogne. The village of Saint Raphaël is perched on a ridge at an altitude of 288 metres and overlooks the valleys of the Isle, the Loue and the Auvézère. The site offers a remarkable panorama, allowing to contemplate castles and surrounding hamlets. Founded in the 11th century, Saint-Raphaël is a priory of the royal abbey of Saint-Pierre de Tourtoirac, which was undoubtedly one of the largest monastic buildings in Périgord. The church's pillars are listed as Historic Monuments. The tomb of Saint-Rémy, accompanied by a statuette bearing the effigy of the Saint healer, was for a long time the object of pilgrimages: some people came to implore the protection of the Saint against hail, others came to ask for the healing of their limbs suffering from rheumatism, gout and for greater effectiveness, rub them on the stone of the tomb.

Established in January 2022 in Saint Médard d'Excideuil, Tourenne is an organic farm. Crops are partly grown using animal traction, an ancestral method increasingly used in agriculture for its ecological value. Much less soil compaction than with a tractor, so the soil is more aerated, and investments are lower with simple, precise tools. A laying hen workshop helps us maintain the plots. My husband helps me on the farm on a daily basis. Concerned about my environment and the products we consume, I'd like to share my vegetables with you as the seasons go by. This young and dynamic team from the restaurant and bar business has brought novelty between local products, cuisine ripaille, specialties of Brittany with buckwheat pancakes and wheat pancakes prepared to order as well as elaborate cocktails with multiple colors and flavors.
