The Erckmann-Chatrian Regional Trail (GR de Pays) crosses the territories of Sarrebourg and Phalsbourg over a distance of 85 km, between Niderhoff and Oberhof. This route can be completed in 3 to 5 days and leads visitors to discover many cultural and historical sites: Lutzelbourg Castle, the Saint-Louis Arzviller Inclined Plane, the Valley of the Locks, the village of Haselbourg, the Dabo Rock, the Jaegerhof forest lodge, Saint-Léon Cave in Walscheid, the Abreschviller forest train, the archaeological site of Croix-Guillaume, and the village of Saint-Quirin. The trail also passes the birthplaces of Alexandre Chatrian and Émile Erckmann.

The originality of this circuit is the eighteenth-century stones displaying the arms of the great landowners of the time.

The "Belle Roche" hiking trail starts at a place called "Les Quatre Chemins". It is 3.5 km long and takes about 1 hour to complete, without difficulty. Along the way, you will arrive at the "Belle Roche" where you can get an outstanding point of view on the valley of Saint-Quirin. Finally, you may reach and find out more about the unusual cave of this place. Departure: By car, take the departmental road towards Abreschviller as far as the Col des Deux Croix (signposted "Site de la Croix Guillaume"). In this direction, turn right onto the tarmac forest road (3.5km) as far as Les Quatre Chemins, a place formed by a square from which several forest roads radiate.

There is a rich heritage in Saint-Quirin, one of the "most beautiful villages in France" (French label). Indeed, you may discover seven sanctuaries in Saint Quirin and in the villages nearby, called the Seven Roses (les Septs Roses). The Haute Chapelle (High Chapel), also called "La Rose Rouge" (Red Rose), overhangs the village at the top of the hill. This trail starts at the Church in Saint Quirin, "La Priorale" (also called "Rose d'or", Golden Rose in English). It is 9km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. Difficulty: Medium/Average

This hiking trail will lead you to the Bacelles cave, passing through beautiful beech forests. A bacelle in Lorrain dialect means a young girl. The hike is 9.5 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. It is of medium difficulty because of the elevation gain.

Follow the landmarks of the Prieuré (Priory) by hiking on the Vieux Château trail (the Old Castle trail). Along the way, you may discover the vestige of an old castle and by going further in the forest, do not miss the archeological tourist site of La Croix Guillaume (William's Cross)! On your way back, you may pass by the Verriers Church (Glassmakers' Chuch) in Lettenbach. The trail is 6 km long and takes about 2 hours to complete. Difficulty: Medium/Average because the elevation gain

Croquenot walk is one of the three hiking trails suitable for those who don’t have much time to spend in Saint-Quirin : indeed, it only takes an hour to do and it is also an « average » walk. Start at the abbey’s garden : there, you may follow the « croquenot » (hiking shoe) on a pink background, in the direction of the stream. Be amazed by the miraculous source and the wet iris field. Please be advised not to walk there as wet areas are fragile ! Then, you may walk pass the townhall : enjoy the former forest house and the field surrounded by stones. It is time now to go into the forest. You may reach a water tank : there will be another path leading to the village on your right (marked with a blue disc). You may not follow this path but the forest path instead. Be amazed by the outstanding view on the village. Then, you may cross a wooden bridge and follow the pathway leading to Charmille and Moulin streets. A few more steps and it’s over !

Iris walk is one of the three hiking trails suitable for those who don’t have much time to spend in Saint-Quirin : indeed, it only takes an hour to do and it is also an « average » walk. Start at the abbey’s garden : there, you may follow the Iris on a yellow background, in the direction of the stream. Be amazed by the miraculous source and the wet iris field. Please be advised not to walk there as wet areas are fragile ! Then, you may walk pass the townhall : enjoy the former forest house and the field surrounded by stones. Afterwards, you may reach « La Croix des Missions » (Missions’ Cross). You can stop a bit further away in order to enjoy the view on the village, very close to La Haute Chapelle (High Chapel). It is time now to go back to the village. Don’t forget to visit the Church on your way back !

Trâ kieucheu dé Moteu or Bulbes is one of three short walks designed for those with little time to spare when visiting Saint-Quirin. It takes 1 hour to complete and is of moderate difficulty, given the terrain. As it is a circular route, it can be walked in either direction. Please note that the description is clockwise. The start is in the parish priest's garden (behind the main church - rue de l'abbaye). - Walk 300 m up rue de l'Abbaye towards the cemetery. Turn left for 50 m onto the path perpendicular to the cemetery, climb the 3 steps to the right and follow the path into the undergrowth. - After 240 m, continue to the left towards milestone no. 485. - After 50m and a few steps, take the wide track on the left. - After 300m and a steep climb, the path joins the forest road (RF) to Haute-Chapelle, which you should follow to the right. As you go along, you can admire the ice rock on your left, which can turn into an ice organ in winter. - After 800m, you are at the junction of the Haute-Chapelle and Stée footpaths. Take the large track on your right. - After 150m, turn right onto a small track that leads down to the stadium. Follow this for 600m until you reach a tarmac road which you will walk up on the right for 150m. - When you come to a calvary, take the small concrete staircase with 5 steps and follow the grassy path upwards along a fenced meadow. - After 230m you will come to the Haute-Chapelle and a panoramic view of the village. - Head back down towards the village along the wide stone path which, after 400m, leads to the church next to the parish priest's garden. The church houses a Silbermann organ and a chandelier from Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche.

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

Facing the church, the Monument of Lorraine border smugglers 1940-1945 is at the edge between Meurthe-et-Moselle and Moselle, annexed by the German Reich from July 1940 to the Liberation (on year 1945). This Monument shows a war memorial of the people executed by a fire squad on 14th October 1944, in order to remember 4 local resistance fighters shooted during the 2nd World War.

Historical: Daniel Lagrand is an industrialist of the valley de le Bruche and Oberlin’s disciple. He created a school in 1846 in Lafrimbolle in order to teach protestant families’ children living around Lafrimbolle-some of them came from the valley de la Bruche about 15 years before. This school was fitted out to serve as a chapel 3 years after in 1849. There was also an adjoining apartment for the teacher. The school was removed in 1885. The Chapel called oratory was afterwards extended. Since 1927 it has looked the same.

In between Saint-Quirin and Métairies Saint-Quirin, enjoy Neuve Grange Wood, crossed by both GR5 and GR533 hiking trails.There are several 18th Century borderstones in the wood: on each, you may see marks of former powerful owners at the time.

Ideal to have a nice break in the middle of nature, L'Abri des Barronies (the "Barronies" shelter) is located on the GR 534 pathway. You will also find a table and two benches.

At the foot of the mountain in Vosges, with a verdant environment, the Museum "Memories of the Textile" is located into the former textile factory (from 1850 to 1978), that keeps the memory and know-how trail of thousands of employees. The machines come to life right under visitors’ eyes to explain all the manufacturing processes from cotton ball to final fabric. Calico makers, cotton spinner, weaver, warping… so many disappeared trades and gestures to discover again. This Museum is open, from May to October, 2 times a week (Groups on appointment all year).

Seven sanctuaries called the « Seven Roses » are to be discovered in Saint-Quirin and in the dependent communes of the Priory. Owned by the commune of Métairies-Saint-Quirin, the Notre Dame de l’Hor Chapel (the blue rose) is located at the foot of the road from Saint-Quirin to Lorquin; with an altitude of 310 meters and in a meadow surrounded by the forest.

The Mazerand House, built in 1896 (Jugendstil), was originally the residence of the director of the company, one of the oldest printing works in France. The owner offers you accommodation in 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom with separate toilet, 1 library, 1 billiard room located upstairs. During your presence, it is possible to make the floor available for your exclusive use, so that you can fully enjoy your stay. In the immediate vicinity, you can visit Saint-Quirin, listed as ‘France's most beautiful village’, take the little forest train at Abreschviller, meet wolves at the Parc de Sainte-Croix or enjoy a relaxing day at the Center Parcs Deep Nature Spa.

Come to relax and take a break in green settings near the Donon. Be amazed by the forest surrounding you and all the hiking trails you may discover (including the GR5). Access: leave Metz following the N233. Take the A314 and then the A4 in the direction of Strasbourg until "Sortie 44 - Phalsbourg" (Exit 44). Take the N4 in the direction of Sarrebourg (for 10 minutes). Finally, take the D44 in Hesse until Nitting and follow the direction of Métairies-Saint-Quirin afterwards.
