A day's hike in the Masse and Bausse valleys, on a circuit that offers many views of the villages overlooking the Lot valley and the hillsides of the Pays de Serres.

In the hills surrounding Dolmayrac, you will enjoy many viewpoints on the sites and villages of Pech-de-Berre, Laparade, le Temple-sur-Lot, Fongrave, Monclar-d'Agenais, Montpezat-d'Agenais, etc.

This circuit offers, to the north, vast panoramas on the Lot valley, and to the south, viewpoints on the surrounding pechs of the Pays de Serres. Dolmayrac is a castral village established on a rocky spur which dominates the valley of the Lot, it knew the construction of 3 castles during the Middle Ages of which it remains only a square tower dating from XIIIe century. It currently houses the town hall. This fortification protected the village on the plateau side, where the natural defences are lesser. Along the route, you can see the old castral chapel of Saint-Orens, which dates from the 14th century and became a parish church in the 16th century. Situated outside the walls, on the site of an ancient villa, it preserves interesting architectural elements of the flamboyant Gothic style. In the countryside, the Romanesque church of Saint-Cyprien is a listed monument.

This small loop is quite demanding despite its low mileage, some passages reach 12 to 15% and others require great vigilance to cross the D 113. The plum orchards of Ente, symbols of the valley are very present throughout this route.

Dolmayrac is a village full of history. It is a commune of 19,4 km² with 630 inhabitants called Dolmayracais. It is a village worth visiting for its fresh air, its tranquility or for lovers of old stones. The history of Dolmayrac is particularly rich: the present town hall was once part of the castle that was taken over from the English by the lord of Montpezat. In Lot-et-Garonne, agriculture plays a major role in the local economy but also in the architecture of the landscape. The Lot valley is particularly favourable to fruit and vegetable production, which benefits from good quality soil and abundant water. During your walk, you will be able to observe numerous orchards of plum trees (emblematic trees of the region), apple trees, hazelnut trees, kiwi trees, as well as a vineyard.

Sitauted at Sainte Colombe de Villeneuve, the Lastournelles natural caves were created 25 million years ago by an underground river. The caves give us an insight into the area’s geology. The Baniérettes artificial lake covers a surface of 11 hectares and is sitated in the commune of Sante-Clombe-de-Villeneuve. The lake was created in 1995 by the A.S.A. (Association Syndicale Autorisée )to fulfil the local farmers’ need for water.

This hike through the hills of the Pays de Serres will take you to the church of Nouaillac, then to the caves of Lastournelles, a true "Pearl of Aquitaine". These caves began more than twenty five million years ago, at the end of the Tertiary era. Since then, they have never ceased to be adorned with an infinite number of stalactites, stalagmites and draperies of incomparable richness. They allow us to better understand the particular geology of this part of the Lot-et-Garonne called "Pays de Serres". At the lake of Baniérettes, a conservatory orchard presents old varieties of hazelnut trees, fig trees, cherry trees, apple trees... On the final climb, you will pass by one of the many typical pigeon houses of this region.

The easiest walk in the series! No main road, little positive difference in altitude, wide and easy paths in an orchard of plum trees of Ente then on the wooded pech, from where appear the village of Pujols on the horizon or the lake of Baniérettes in the combe of the same name...

Built on a rocky spur dominating the Lot valley, this 18th century village has preserved one of the towers of its ancient fortifications. To see: its narrow medieval streets, its tower dating back to the end of the 13th century, the ruins of Saint Cyprien church and its 12th century Saint Michel church.

For several years, the association for the preservation of firefighters' equipment, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Lot-et-Garonne Department, has been working on the construction of a conservatory to house its collection. Several buildings, including one of 1,800 m² and two of 700 m² of photovoltaic panels, now house the agricultural machinery after the recovery of the tractors and machines of the Departmental Council. Every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, about twenty people meet to restore the equipment. The conservatory has 82 fire engines and 102 tractors.

The farm and the remains of the Labat family's Mill are located in the commune of Montpezat, in the small valley of the Bausse on land formerly attached to the disappeared Abbey of Pérignac where Cistercian monks cultivated vines as early as the 12th century. The Labat family cultivates 6 hectares of vines and produces its wines on the farm in a qualitative approach with grapes coming exclusively from manual harvesting.

It was in 1928 that Charles Baechler, who had left Switzerland with his wife and 5 children, arrived on the banks of the Lot with a herd of cows and his experience as a cheese maker. Today it is the 5th generation that perpetuates his passion, ancestral tradition and artisanal know-how. In the shop, you will be seduced by the flagship, the emblem of the cheese dairy matured for at least 12 months, the soft and melting Tomme d'Aquitaine, the different raclette specialities (plain, white wine, garlic and herbs, chilli pepper) or by the peasant woman, very rich in taste. Don't forget also the by-products such as cream and especially butter, sweet or salted, which will give a very different taste to your toasts or cakes!

The city of Sainte-Livrade lies against the Lot in the heart of a fertile valley, on the tracks of the Roman way. On the map can be seen 'islands' of varied shapes & forms with two outcenterd squares. Must see: the church (classified as historical monuments from centuries XII and XIV), the remains of surrounding walls, half-timbered houses, the market hall, city hall and the Indochinese French refugees quarter.

The organic rock farm has been producing and processing organic fruits and vegetables for 35 years. It also offers bread, pastries, syrups, fruit juices, desserts and pizzas.

From the forests of the Landes and the landscapes of Gascony, to the borders of the Périgord, via the Lot and Garonne valleys, the Pays de Serres and Guyenne's hillsides, each terroir allows us to harvest varied, high-quality honeys. From this evidence, we have built our project of a professional transhumant bee farm in the Pays de Serres, in the heart of the Lot et Garonne.
