Chaptelat, Haute-Vienne, Limousin: discoveries and adventures

The Aurieres trail starts in the village of Chaptelat and takes you through the Limousin countryside. Pass in front of the Château de Puymirat. Follow the old tramway that used to link Chaptelat to Limoges.

Just a few kilometers from Limoges, this hike takes in the Limousin countryside. Along the way, you'll pass through the village of Chaptelat and a number of small hamlets. Numerous ponds and woods punctuate the route.

Hiking in Beaune-les-Mines on the outskirts of Limoges. Discover the town's heritage with its century-old lime tree and the Mazelle water reservoir. This is one of Limoges' 4 drinking water reservoirs.

Stage 2: Bonnac-la-Côte - Lac de Saint-Pardoux (24 km). On leaving Bonnac-la-Côte, take a break on the banks of the Mortemare pond, then admire the view from the Col de la Sablonnade (509 m altitude). On arrival in Compreignac, don't hesitate to make a detour into the village to visit the fortified church and enjoy a bite to eat. Once you've arrived at Lac de Saint-Pardoux, take advantage of the various activities on offer around the lake.

Easily accessible, Couzeix is located north of Limoges. The village circuit offers a natural interlude in an urbanized commune. You can enjoy the Mas Gigou stream on a wooded path and walk along the ancient Roman road. Near the start, the Saint-Marie-Madeleine church stands on the highest point of the village.

Stage 5 of the Limoges to Saint-Pardoux loop: Bonnac-la-Côte - Limoges (18 km). Leaving Leychoisier, you pass through woods and fields to Goupilloux, then on to the village of Grossereix. You enter Limoges along the Auzette to the Moulin Pinard landscape park. Then you'll cross the Bois de la Bastide and the Lac d'Uzurat to arrive at the Benedictine station.

Discover the old village of Rilhac-Rancon and the Limousin bocage north of Limoges. You'll pass the Etang de Guillot, cross streams and ponds, and wind your way through the villages of Les Mines and L'Alleue. There's another, shorter hiking trail in the commune: the Moulin de Chabrou path (2h15 and 8.5 km, with a variant of 1h30 and 6.2 km)

Discover the old village of Rilhac-Rancon and the Limousin bocage north of Limoges. You'll visit the villages of Lalleüe and Payaux, and come across streams and ponds. Don't miss the Moulin de Chabrou. The trail lasts 2 hours 15 minutes and 8.5 km, with a variant of 1 hour 30 minutes and 6.2 km.

A long cycle tour from Limoges to the Lake of Saint Pardoux, which leads to the Creuse at Bénévent l'Abbaye (Petites Cites de Caractere©) and then winds its way to Saint-Léonard de Noblat and its collegiate church, which is listed by UNESCO as part of the Pilgrimage Route to Santiago de Compostela in France, to return to Limoges. The itinerary takes the Limoges cycle route to the lake of Saint Pardoux and joins the V56 West Creuse cycle route, from Chatelus-le-Marcheix to Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, both registered in the national cycle routes and greenways scheme. The Maison de la Nature, near Uzurat in Limoges, is the headquarters of the Haute-Vienne departmental hunters' federation.
