Eurovélo 8 (2020) from Sorède to Argelès-sur-Mer

A varied route through fields and vineyards connecting Sorede, beautiful village of  the Albera, to the seaside. Departure from the place called Les Trompettes hautes located in the lower part of Montesquieu. At the roundabout, turn right then left onto Cami des Trompettes. At Mas Santraille, cross the D61, continue straight on traverse du Mas Santraille then rue de la Plansounade and Cami del Coscobell. At Cami de Matemale, the part of the EV8 (in blue dotted lines on the map) is not managed by the community of communes. Follow the EV8 route which continues straight ahead across fields (or possibility to go down to the left in the direction of the commune of Saint-Genis-des-Fontaines to go and visit the abbey and its famous lintel). Turn to the right following the markings on the ground. Continue straight ahead on the tarred track. Here, maintenance area for bicycles. At the exit of the tarred track, turn to the left then at the junction to the right, ford crossing. Cross the D50, second ford crossing.Continue until Sorède. Turn left on the small traverse to rejoin a few meters further down the tarred EV8 track. Cross the D11, pass by the Sorède multisport hall, ford crossing a little further, follow the EV8 signs. Turn left and continue on the D2, then a few meters further turn right towards Auberge du Roua following the small road that crosses the river “la Massana”. Continue to the left on chemin du Roua. After Auberge du Roua, pass under the bridge and continue on chemin du Roua then to the left rue des Micocouliers. Go straight ahead on rue du Moulin Mars. Turn left then a few meters further to the right before the fire station, avenue du 11 Novembre 1918. Follow along the river and turn left on avenue du 14 Juillet. Continue straight ahead at the roundabout, rue des Trabucayres. At the roundabout, go right, avenue Molière. At the roundabout, after the bridge turn right, then continue towards the beach until the arrival roundabout along avenue Général de Gaulle. At the roundabout, turn left and before the Tourist Office, turn right, avenue des Pins. On the green promenade, go to the left. At this point, leave the seafront by turning left, pass between two buildings to reach avenue de la Méditerranée. At the roundabout, go right on route du Littoral up to the pont de la Riberette. Advice: a little further on, venture into the Mas Larrieu Nature Reserve along the banks of the Tech.

A cosy barge on the Canal du Midi, in Avignonet-Lauragais, perfect for a stopover between Toulouse and Carcassonne... a unique change of scenery guaranteed! Accueil Vélo accredited. For an unusual stay on the famous Canal du Midi, in the heart of the Lauragais region between Toulouse and Carcassonne, come and discover the Péniche Dondon! Moored at the Emborrel lock, in the commune of Avignonet-Lauragais, the Dondon barge has everything you could wish for! Just 1.5km from the historic village, where you'll find a bakery and small grocery shop, post office and railway station. From the barge, you have immediate access to the Canal towpath, on foot or by bike, and some sites are accessible by car or by the Canal cycle path; pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela, cycle tourists... you'll find the ideal stopover here! Karoline even offers breakfast (or a packed lunch/picnic) on request! Parking in front of the barge. Port-Lauragais 3 km away (bike hire, discovery centre, local produce shop), Naurouze threshold, swimming at Lac de la Ganguise, Revel 25 km away (remarkable market under the covered market on Saturday mornings), Lac de Saint-Ferréol 28 km away (swimming and water sports)... Toulouse and its many attractions are just 40 km away, easily accessible by motorway in 12 minutes, and all shops and restaurants are 7 km away. This cosy barge can accommodate up to 7 people. You enter the captain's cabin, which has been converted into a fully-equipped galley, and a few steps lead down to the saloon with a lift-up coffee table for dining inside, a 140x200 futon sofa-bed and a modular footstool armchair that can be converted into an extra bed for 1 person. Master bedroom (1 king-size bed 160x200), children's bedroom (bunk beds 90x190), shower room, WC/laundry room. Reversible air conditioning, pellet stove, WIFI. Terrace on the deck of the boat (deckchairs...), dining area on the riverbank and small aperitif area, smoking area, café... in front of the barge. No baby facilities. The canal runs parallel to the A61 motorway, which can be seen 200m away when you are outside (absolute peace and quiet inside).
