Richard Piriou established his own poultry farm in 2014, on the family farm in Guillerval in the south of Essonne. Son of farmers, this poultry farmer raises bare-necked chickens, farm guineafowls, as well as capons for the end of year celebrations. All are raised in a natural outdoor setting and wander through a grassy path of several dozen hectares. The farmer also cultivates cereals on part of his farm according to a sustainable agriculture. Richard's poultry are fed with wheat and corn from the farm but also with oilseeds and protein crops. Richard Priou sells his products on the markets of Etampes or Auvers-Saint-Georges (every other Saturday morning) and then on the markets of Guillerval or Saint-Cyr-la-Rivière (every other Saturday afternoon). It is also possible to place an order directly with the breeder and collect the poultry from the farm.

The association Rêv'Anion, located in Essonne between Lardy and Janville sur Juine, offers to visitors of all ages the chance to explore the Gillevoisin castle and its surrounding forests with one or more donkeys with hiking pack. Different possible circuits, adapted to the capacities of each one. Map provided with marked trails. Everything is explained before departure. Theme walks and hikes for groups all year round. All equipment is provided to leave in peace with his fellow traveler. Our association also offers animal mediation sessions, adapted for people in fragile situations. Domain of Méréville is assessed as the last example of picturesque garden designed in the late 18th century. It is a remarkable and iconic landscaped park of Anglo-Chinese gardens of the late eighteenth century. It was composed by François-Joseph Bélanger then Hubert Robert on behalf of financier Jean-Joseph de Laborde, wealthy sponsor and great lover of gardens. It belongs to the category of picturesque gardens which mark the rupture with the ideal of regular garden fashionable until that time: composed of an array, articulated around scenes that we discover during the walk and along the water, the landscaped garden is a tribute to an idealized and sublimated nature. The Domain has been owned by the Department Council of Essonne since December 2000 and is the subject of restoration work campaigns. In 2019 it obtained the national label "Jardin Remarquable".

Villeconin Castle was built in the late 14th century by Jean de Montaigu, superintendent of Kings Charles VI finances. The castle, typical of the medieval era with its keep, its round tower and its guards room, is surrounded by moats at the edge of the parc. The guided tour by the owner family ends with a walk in the park where everyone is invited to walk freely. The garden is composed of boxwood clusters and a wooded area. The flowerbeds alternate with perennial flowering staggered, rosebushes and fuchsia.

12th-century church of Saint Hilaire

Etampes Museum owes its reputation to a collection of 19th-century sculptures. Besides the entire works of Elias Robert, since 1875 the museum has exhibited drawings, paintings, archaeological items and historical documents as well as a few fossils.

Unique in France! The Church of the Metropolitan residence of Limours is a church entirely covered with wood and with beautiful interior frescoes, in the style of the Maramuresh region (northern Romania). Unique in France and Western Europe (exept a similar church built in Geneva), the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis Church put in evidence by its architecture, icons, frescoes, forms and colors, the splendor of uncreated light, the peace given by the risen Christ, the transfigured human condition, expression of heaven and new earth, which are already in germ in this life. The church has an iconostasis (bulkhead decorated with images, icons) that separates the Nave from the Heart. The outside is in rough wood and the roof, in bardo.

With its great park, its garden and its was statues living in the castle, Breteui is a family outing. Château de Breteuil stands in the heart of the Vallée de Chevreuse. The de Breteuil family, one of the most illustrious in France, has owned this immense property for several generations. The current building features a harmonious 17th-century façade of white stone and pink brick. But if you look hard enough, you can still make out some of the remains of the original fortified castle, such as the dovecote. The gardens of the Château de Breteuil are the perfect setting for a fun and historical walk for all the family ! In the Chevreuse Valley, get lost in the 75 hectares of parkland at the Château de Breteuil. In this English-style garden, start your walk by discovering the Jardin des Princes (Princes’ Garden) with its collection of Japanese cherry trees, then take a tour of the maze, and finally wander through a typical French-style garden laid out around 1900. During your walk, don't forget to take the way of remarkable trees before discovering two romantic ponds. Bright house made of bricks and stones from the 17th and 18th centuries, turned towards nature whose decorations and furniture are largely inspired. Its sumptuous romantic park is the fruit of the work of the best landscapers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Classified as "Remarkable Garden", Courson's romantic English park is the result of the work of great landscapers such as Berthault and the Bühler brothers. Its 35 hectares, furrowed by long alleys winding around a pond, shelter a rich vegetation: flowering camellias, magnolias, lilacs and azaleas in the spring, hydrangeas and roses bloom in summer, or even flamboyant colors of the beeches, oaks and maples in autumn, will amaze you! The castle, listed as a Historic Monument, perpetuates a certain French tradition of splendid and refined aristocratic residences, while affirming its personality of large residence in brick and "transparent" stone. Former residence of Lamoignon, it was built in the 17th century around an inner courtyard.

Property of the Departmental Council of Essonne, the Domain of Chamarande is classified as a historical monument. The park of 98 ha has been refitted by landscape architect Jacques Sgard. The Domain also houses the departmental archives. Atypical, heritage and cultural site, the Departmental Domain of Chamarande is a key element of Essonne territory. Unique in Ile-de-France, it combines both an artistic and cultural center, a built complex and a landscaped area recognized as "Jardin remarquable" (outstanding garden). The entire cultural program has a wide audience and is promoting the democratization of culture to all Essonne.

The Donjon de Houdan is a 12th-century tower commissioned by the Counts of Montfort. This historic monument is also a cultural venue, offering exhibitions, concerts... The Tower (commonly known as ‘Le Donjon’), built in the 12th century under the reign of the Counts of Montfort, and listed as a Historic Monument since 1889, was designed to watch out for enemies and defend the territory. But in reality, its main role was to act as a deterrent, as it was reputed to be impregnable. Built on the site of an ancient Merovingian necropolis, it originally consisted of an enclosure and a master tower. The enclosure, which has now disappeared, was fitted with a circular turret to defend the gateway. The access door -via a drawbridge-, initially situated 4 metres above ground level and then raised to 6 metres in the 15th century, was the only access to the large room on the 1st floor reserved for the military chief. Sometimes associated with the Duchy of Brittany and sometimes with the crown of France, Le Donjon was given by Louis XIV, with the county of Montfort, to the Duke of Luynes. The latter sold it in 1800 to an innkeeper from Houdan, citizen Leroy. Successively owned by various familie, the place was bequeathed by the latter to the town of Houdan in 1903. It presents traces of its history through its numerous graffiti, some dating from the 17th century. Used as a reserve, then as a prison and later a water tower, it underwent a certain number of changes in order to adapt to its new functions. The water tower, whose first metal tank was installed in 1880, was functional until the 1950s. In 1952, a new, more solid concrete tank was built. The tank is still present to this day, as well as part of the concrete uprights used to support it. Le Donjon consists of a tower 15 m in diameter and 25 m high, flanked by 4 turrets of the same height located at the four cardinal points. MONUMENTAL WORKS Like any historical monument requiring renovation, the work on the dungeon was difficult and complicated due to the historical, architectural aspect and the planning constraints of the monument. No less than 3 and a half years of work were necessary to allow the site to regain a second lease of life and to be able to welcome the many visitors, curious to discover or rediscover this flagship monument of the Houdan landscape. From now on, young and old will be able to explore the dungeon from bottom to top!
