Visit Rions, located at the foot of the hillsides on the right bank of the river Garonne, nestled in the heart of the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux vineyard. Then go to the hillsides, where there are many small castles in the vineyards and which offer unobstructed views of the Garonne.

Classified as a Historic Monument in 2006, the castle and the park overlooking the Garonne were built in 1917 for the industrialist François Thévenot. The exceptional park, planted with cedars, sequoias, magnolias, etc... is populated with numerous remarkable statues. Bequeathed to the municipality, the Chavat Park is, since 1999, the public garden of the commune The Balades à Roulettes® (BR®) are short, quiet walks, with a pushchair or a small bicycle, or adapted for people with reduced mobility (in a wheelchair), proposed by the French Federation of Rambling of the Gironde.

From the castle square, discover the church and the funeral chapel. The walk continues under the Porte de l'Horloge (Clock Gate), which leads back to the port on the Garonne.

Two booklets, both fun and educational, allow children from 3 years old, accompanied by their families, to stroll through the bastide town of Cadillac, founded in the 13th century. By solving puzzles and riddles, they will discover the fortified gates, the ramparts, the market hall and its arcaded houses, and will thus understand the very particular geometric plan of this new medieval town. The tour will end with the Ducal Castle of Cadillac. After solving this riddle hunt, each little explorer is expected at the Tourist Office for a surprise...

Château Cérons has opened its doors for wine tasting since 2012. This is also the date when Xavier & Caroline Perromat became the owners of the vineyard. Downtown, with big enclosing-stone walls, this eighteenth century’s Charterhouse is just in front of the lovely twelfth century's church. This cottage is located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, about 35 kilometers from Bordeaux. Housed in one of the towers of an old fortified castle from the 16th century, lovers of old stones will be seduced. It is made up, on the ground floor, of a big room, formerly a chapel, equipped with a 14 bed. You access to the first floor by an old stone staircase where you can find the living room with its fitted kitchen, its dining area and its chaise longue. You will have access at this level to an overhanging terrace with garden furniture. On the second and last level is the second bedroom with its round bed and its bright bathtub from where you can admire the magnificent frame of the tower (access to the bedroom by a Japanese-style staircase). Built at the beginning of the 17th century by a favourite of Henri III, the château of the Dukes of Epernon was in its day fit for a royal palace. Very typical of French architecture, it was converted in the 19th century into a women's prison. Classified historical monument. Unacompanied and guided tour, Heritage sales desk, bookshop with free access, permanent exhibition.

The Berglund family bought the Château Carsin in 1990. Our wine cellar and most of our vines are located in the village Rions. Nowadays we produce our wine with less technologies et we focus on our soil's features and on the authenticity of our vineyard to get the best of it. That is why we chose more traditional and conservative practices to produce our wine, for instance working by following the moon and stars rythm. We also work for the roots of our wines by planting historical Bordeaux grape varieties as Sauvignon Gris, Malbec, Carménère and Petit Verdot, in our vineyard. Of course, we also grow more typical varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The church was built during the 12th century in a roman style. It was enlarged during the 14th century with a a nave in a gothic style, and. with side aisle. During the 19th century, the northern side was enlarged with a neo classic bell tower, and also a side aisle. The church was listed historical monument the 1st December 1908.

La Bastane is an estate located near the banks of the Garonne river, and is owned since 2017 by Anaïs and Bastien, two young winemakers of 31 and 32 years old. It is also a castle from the 19th century overhanging the medieval town of Rions, known by the merchants from Bordeaux since 1855. The wines are produced with an organic farming, getting transformed during the first three years.

This water tower was the first architectural achievement knwn of Le Corbusier in France, ordered by François Thévenot to supply it new estate : the Domaine Chavat. The water tower was made with reinforced concrete and included a panoramic break room. During the second half of the 20th century, the estate was broken up and the water tower disused.

The castle and the park overhanging the Garonne river were erected in 1917 by the industrialist François Thévenot. There are many trees planted in the park : cedars, sequoias, magnolias... and got a lot of remarkable statues. The Parc Chavat was left to the city council and became in 1999 the local park ; then it has been listed as Historical Monument in 2006.

This island was formed by a dead arm of the Garonne river the long of several towns : Rions, Paillet and Lestiac, last alluvial wet zone of the Gironde department. Open to the publoc, the island is an important didactic tool allowing to anyone to renew with the river and nature.

It is in the middle of a very welcoming green space, where swans and ducks live together, that you will find the wash house of Podensac. It is a very large wash-house, built in its present form in the 19th century. It has recently undergone maintenance and restoration work.

The lake of Podensac (little fished since 40 years) welcomes finally the fishermen on 17 ha. Beware of surprises. Rental of canoe and Zodiac possible.

Typical of the late gothic architecture, this church was erected from 1533. Some renovations were made in the mid 17th century, after the parliamentarian siege. Inside, the building contains liernes and tiercerons vaults, rare in the region.

The "Paris" room has a bathroom with a walk-in shower whereas the "Rio" room has a canopy bed and a bathroom with a tub and a walk-in shower.

A charming 18th century chartreuse with cellar outbuildings, bread oven, etc. The walls of this house contain a rich and varied history: The main portal bears the initials of the painter Joseph Antoine Batanchon (died 1812 in Lestiac sur Garonne). Founder of the Academy of Painting of Bordeaux in 1768. The wine merchant, Mr Calvet de Lestapis, former owner of Château Tauzia in Gradignan, wine merchant lived in the house, late 19th century.
