A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motorised vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. They are ideal for families or couples to feel at home. We have two accommodation units available for hire. Our large and spacious mobile home is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Our smaller mobile home is available by the night and is ideal for couples, families with young children and walkers/cyclists. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SITE. The site is open from April to September.

Between Bagnoles de l'Orne, a renowned spa town, and Lassay-les-Châteaux, a small town full of character, the Champs étoilés gîte is exceptional for the warm atmosphere it creates thanks to a subtle combination of wood and stone, and new and renovated furniture. La Ferté-Macé (14km): leisure centre with water sports and swimming in season. Lassay-les-Châteaux (9km): visits to the château, numerous events and exhibitions, painters in the street, art galleries, market and shops. Swimming pool in summer. Numerous signposted walks. From the gîte, 500 metres, Sentier du sculpteur, a short walk of 6.7km. Professional stays: 3 people maximum. 1 or 2-night weekend breaks: arrival 5pm - departure 5pm. For stays of 3 nights or more: arrival at 5pm - departure at 10am.

A building erected on the site of the martyrdom of St Sulpice, bishop of Bayeux, in the 9th century. Seat of a cult of St Sulpice who cured skin complaints. Numerous ex voto offerings. St Sulpice fountain nearby. Tours on request.

A 12th century chapel dedicated to St Sulpice which had the power to cure skin ailments, particularly in children. A statue of a young girl found not far from there decorates the boundary wall of the chapel. The St Sulpice fountain can be seen a little further on.

Discover the incredible story of the battle of Villers-Bocage. On June 12, 1944, six days after the D-Day Landings, American troops were at the gates of Caumont-L'Eventé. General Montgomery took advantage of this rapid advance of the American army to immediately strike another blow against the German forces. His main objective is the city of Caen, which he decides to bypass from the west. He launched the 7th British Armored Division towards Villers-Bocage. Aunay-sur-Odon was heavily bombed by the British air force to prevent the arrival of German reinforcements. The next day, June 13, the tanks of the 7th British Armored Division and the SS heavy tank battalion No. 101 clash in this small town of Villers-Bocage, in Calvados. The British, defeated in the morning, manage to gain the upper hand in the afternoon. However, they were forced to turn around because the German reinforcements surrounded them ... The bocage is locked, firmly defended, it will not be finally released until the beginning of August after intense efforts (Operation Bluecoat).
