From the Brasc plateau to the banks of the Tarn river, a breathtaking hike that winds through the pines and connects the perched village with a small chapel below.From the cross situated on the northeast side of the church square, head towards Réquista. After 50m you reach a road junction, where you turn to the right. After approximately 500 m you will reach a pine wood, take a hairpin bend to the right; then follow an ancient roadway for about 3 km towards the Mas de Gély.Once above the Mas de Gély, take the track leading through woodland, then onto a path that runs through some trees.  After 100 m take the path to the left which becomes a meandering slope down to Guiraldou, Le Roc; From here follow the D902 to the right.Once you’ve reached Saint-Dalmazi, you will see some houses situated up ahead. Between the houses to your right there is a steep passage which will take you up to Sénils where you then join a narrow road which joins the D552. Follow this road to the right up to the village of Brasc.                       

From Coupiac medieval castle to the charming small valleys surrounding the village, this trail offers an opportunity to enjoy a short getaway in a haven of freshness, walking to the quiet splashing of a brook.From the carpark of the Post Office square, walk to the entrance of the castle. Once you are in front of the entrance, walk down the street to the right.Once you’ve reached the square in the town centre, walk straight ahead up to the cross. Cross the street and go up the stairs.At the top of the stairs, turn to the left then to the right by a hairpin bend. Follow the rising path up to the road, then turn left.Just by the water tower, turn left. Follow the road up to the hairpin bend, then take a path on the left towards Massillergues. Follow the path up to the chapel.Once you’ve reached the chapel, retrace your steps back to the path you took on the way there for 160 m, then leave it and take to the right a descending trail.Walk along the brook until Coupiac.

These very old country lanes will lead you, alongside fields and beech forests, throughout the Pays des Sept Vallons countryside with the babbling of brooks and waterfalls for companion.From the Circuit Information point, take the R. Bel avenue towards Montclar. Just outside the village, turn left and head for the Masnaut outdoor activities centre. Walk along the side of the lake up to the car park, then as you approach the gateway, walk beside the brook on its right bank. Where path and brook come together (don’t forget waterproof shoes in case of rainy weather) keep going ahead, then leave the path to turn onto a trail. At the junction take the left trail towards the hamlet of La Vaysse where you can enjoy the beautiful waterfall.As you walk through the hamlet, pay attention to the marking so as not to miss a large stone Maltese cross. Once you reach it, walk to the right, which takes you towards the plateau. Walk across the road that gives access to la Calmette and keep going up to a road running alongside a wood of fir trees and beeches. Walk to the left, then turn left again along a fence to reach a Maltese cross where you cross the D194 to take the road towards Moussac.  From there, you can see the hamlet of Vérouls.500 m before the hamlet of Moussac, notice a junction with a cross. Turn to the left on a path and make your way through the fields. Walk along the edge of the wood and follow a path to the right across the woodland.Once you are deep inside the woods take the left hand trail going down to Coustou Le Haut where you will find an enclosed field. Follow the track for 50 m then take the left hand path through the undergrowth.     

This undulating trail allows you to discover ancient buildings made of ocher sandstone extracted and carved from quarries nearby Coupiac. From the trail network information point, walk around the castle to the right and when you are in front of the steps of the castle take the road to St Exupère for 10 m and climb the steps leading up between two houses. Walk across the road and carry on along a sunken path on the opposite side of the road, walk across another road on your right until you reach Cabressier on the tarmac track.Walk across the farm and follow the path that leads to Mazern, then head along the road for 200 m. Turn left towards Regord and keep to the path that follows the contour line.Before the path goes downhill turn on the hairpin bend towards St Laurent. Once you’ve reached this hamlet, turn to your left and follow the road up to la Cloutarié farm. Before the farm, turn right onto the path that leads to the farm and walk on the path to your left down to the old chapel of La Mole where you will see a Templar cross.At the junction, carry straight on for 20 m, take the left hand trail for 800 m then follow the edge of the field on your left that leads down towards the road. Walk to your right towards a place called la Ventadouyre.About 30 m after la Ventadouyre take a left hand dirt road that makes a sharp bend and carry straight on along a sunken path which goes through a wood down into the valley. Cross the bridge over the Mousse and walk back to the village

Starting from the village of Saint-Izaire which holds a medieval red sandstone jewel, explore this route along the Dourdou, Tarn and Gos valleys and enjoy many spectacular views and a tremendous historic heritage.Take the road towards Faveyrolles up to the first intersection, then fork to the right on a dirt road for 800 m (scenic view over the village). Reach the disused "Le Graudenc" farm building, carry on towards the culminating point at the foot of a high-voltage tower, then walk down the Gos creek valley and enjoy an extensive scenic view over the distant horizon.After a steep slope between two fields, fork to the left at the intersection right by the small stone cross. Walk past dilapidated buildings and follow the track down to the valley. On the valley bottom, right at the intersection, take a hairpin bend to the right above the sandpit which can be seen 50 m further.Walk along the shady bank of the Tarn river and through the hamlet of Les Alverhnes. After a 300 m section of tarmac road, go down to the left and pass under the stone bridge of the former railway.Go to the left of the tunnel along the Dourdou river and carry straight on, leaving to the left a nice private bridge over the Dourdou river next to the hamlet of Janolles. Follow the river and pass under another bridge of the former railway, then get back to the tarmac road.Take to the left towards the Mas de Gascuel. Walk along the farm and take the gently sloping dirt road that leads you back to the village of Saint-Izaire.

This short break which lasts less than one hour starts from Saint-Izaire, runs along the tracks of the ancient vineyard and offers a scenic view over the village mainly made of red sandstone.Starting point is from the Place de la Bascule (carpark under the bridge) towards Faveyrolles via the D60. Follow that road which slopes gently down for approximately 1 km, then take to the right the « chemin des Vignes » that soon brings you back above the village. This path used to run across the vineyard of Saint Izaire that stretched over the whole hillside. Today, oak trees and other shrubs have taken back the site.After approximately 1 km, leave that track and turn right into a steep sided path that slopes down and is lined up with a double hedge (before doing so, we recommend you to keep walking on the « chemin des Vignes » for a hundred metres and enjoy the panoramic view over the castle and the village).The descending trail leads you back to the village nearby the castle which is worth visiting (this path is rather steep and requires caution).Get back to the starting point by calades and narrow streets.

You will best enjoy the numerous scenic views by a bright and sunny day From the car park, walk up towards the bridge to cross the Dourdou river and turn left. Follow the D 25 for 875 m, then take a right turn and follow a small road towards Donacoste, and straight after take right a grassy path which runs alongside the road. Pass under a bridge, then cross a footbridge over a stream and further on you will find the entrance to a 500 m long unlit tunnel (old railway tunnel).Enter this tunnel, it is easier if you keep to the left hand side on the passageway. At the end of the tunnel you re-join the grassy path first running the D25, then deviating towards the hamlet les Roques. At the intersection between the D25 and the path, carry on straight leaving the hamlet to your left. Walk alongside the pond, leave on your right the entrance of another tunnel, walk over this tunnel to reach the hamlet of les Canacs.Enter the hamlet and just before you leave, walk to your left in a wide curve and follow a path rising progressively up, leaving 3 trails to the right one after the other. Walk into the woodland, and at the next fork, close by a barn, take the left most path and keep ascending towards NE.  As you get near the crest, pay attention to the trail signs and leave the numerous trails going left and right to carry straight on. At the top, enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Walk down the slope and cross over to the other side of the hill.When you reach a fork on the path, take the left track and start walking down through the woodland. You are now walking on the “bishop’s trail”, which makes a wide curve north. After approximately 20mn, follow the path around two hair pin bends and join a little tarmacked road.Stop and take time to look at the carved standing stone beside the road. Follow that road to the left walking downhill until you reach a fork. At the fork, turn right the road which leads to Riols (equestrian farm) for approximately 150 m, then take almost opposite, a path that rises to the left. Follow a ridge line between the fields and enjoy the beautiful landscape which stretches on either side. The path runs down towards Belle-vue from where the entire village of Saint-Izaire can be seen.6- Follow the small road which leads to Notre-Dame de Grâce chapel. Close to the chapel, you will see a wide path to the right side which runs down towards Saint-Izaire. Walk around the chapel and follow the path which joins the D 25. Turn left, then right to pass under the bridge and get back to the car park.     

 This circuit offers to get back in time along the paths of history: episcopalian castle, carved standing stones, former railway line, native home of abbot Hermet the well-known archeologist. All of these bear witness to the rich and diverse cultural past of the region.   Cycle up to the chapel of Notre Dame de Grâce, go round to the left of the chapel and join the former railway line. Carry on along this line which leads towards the hamlet des Roques.Follow a red earth trail on the hillside until you reach a carved standing stone. Take the path to your right that leads you to the top of the woodlandHead East, before cycling down towards the Cambon plain, which is close to the Bousquet farm. Follow the trail to the left which takes you back to the top of the “Bois Noir”.A shady path then takes you back towards the Mas de Capelier, which is the house where Abbot Hermet was born. Carry on until you reach a road. Cross that road and cycle through the hamlet of Riol.Farther along the road, a path to your left allows you to cycle back to the chapel and to enjoy the view overlooking the village of Saint-Izaire.

AIR LE PARC is located in a beautiful former 19th-century notary's residence, the base of which dates back to 1596, adjoining a park surrounded by old stone walls, in PAMPELONNE (Tarn), a 13th-century bastide town. The residence has been open since 2006. Artists' residency, project and research centre for professional artists working in all disciplines (design, painting, visual arts, music, writing, theatre, dance, film, multimedia, etc.). It is also open for sessions, seminars, concerts and training courses. The rooms and studios are spacious. Large communal areas are available for projects. Shopping in a listed site in the heart of the historic center! The Albi market is held in a unique setting, a Baltard-style pavilion built in 1903. More than a century old, it's a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Twenty or so stores open their doors, offering authentic, quality products. Market gardeners, greengrocers, caterers, fishmongers, pork butchers, cheese-makers, pastry-makers... It's even possible to eat under the covered market, with a choice of catering outlets.

A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. Various departures from the banks of the Tarn between 11:00am and 6:00pm. ‘L’Hirondelle’ and ‘Les Copains d’abord’, scows with a traditional flat bottom, cruise along the Tarn and offer passengers unexpected panoramas of Albi’s heritage and a tranquil atmosphere on the Tarn. Rio Loco, is an electric scow that has joined the fleet, with a capacity of 75 people. A commentary completes the experience. Embark on the banks of the Tarn, below the Berbie Palace and Pont-Vieux. The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Each stage of the production is represented, highlighting his gift for observation, his talent as a draughtsman and his quality for capturing significant detail. The route around the museum is enriched with information panels. To visit the museum is to meet the man, this native of Albi, of whom this city is so proud. The first rooms are devoted to his early works representing his family, his friends and his favourite theme: animals. Gradually the visitor is taken into the Parisian world: the brothels, especially the world of entertainment and the circus. Room after room, we follow the evolution of this unusual artist.

The history of this village is intertwined with that of the old Episcopalian castle, which was formerly the Bishop of Vabres summer palace. The name of the village was first made mention of in an official document dating back to 862 AD.During the 12th century, continual invasions, acts of banditry and battles between feudal lords created a tremendous insecurity. This led to the building of battlements to improve the defensive system and providea safe haven to the neighbouring people during periods of turmoil. The castle and the fortified village date back to the time of the Vabres bishops who made the village their summer residence and a safe refuge.When the religious wars were over and peace restored, the protective wall lost its primary function and so today the façade of the castle has windows inserted along its length. The fortified gates were also demolished to allow the passage of carts or to expand the neighbouring houses. The villagestreet, footpath and house pattern has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages, and the beautiful 15th century facades and windowscan still be seen in some streets today. The old church part of the battlements had its vault lowered in 1635 to provide housing to the schoolmaster and guards. In 1650 repair works were started by the Consuls.

This sanctuary which was founded by Alix de Castelnau has existed since at least the 15th century, when it was called Ouradou (oratory). This chapel was refurbished in 1730 and during the 19th century, the stairway door of the castle was then brought back into use.

Abbot Hermet was a renowned archeologist. He was born in Calmels in 1856, and died in Rodez in 1939. He became interested in carved standing stones when he first saw them at the age of ten, and was immediately keen to learn all that he could about them. He published his first book on the subject, covering six discoveries in 1892. This led to his taking up formal training in the scientific method of archeology, and in 1898, he gave these statues their official classification of “carved standing stones”. In 1901 he became the first to undertake a thorough investigation of the Graufesenque Gallo-Roman site in Millau.

This statue displays all of the feminine features: breasts are depicted either side of the Y shaped pendant,legs are set apart and the hair is tied back and depicted by a stripe down the back from the top of the head to the belt. The eyes are wide open set either side of the nose above tattooed   cheeks represented by four lines.

Located upstream from Albi, 38 km away in the Tarn valley, the village of Trébas-les-Bains has been a GREEN STATION since 2006, for its natural setting rich in preserved flora and fauna, and PAVILLON BLEU since 2010, an eco-label of quality for its supervised white-water bathing in July and August. Leisure centre with many activities: book box, hiking, tennis, handball, basketball, petanque, football, fishing, nature discovery trail... Other paid activities on site: canoeing and paddle, inflatable games with the Oasis de Trébas. Supervised swimming from 2.30 pm to 7 pm every day in July and August.

This engraved statue is made of Permian sandstone and was discovered in 1980. A chevron decorated belt and the round shape of the knees are visible.

The Viala church was built in 1840 on the site of the village castle. The spire is made of red cut sandtone and contains a bell dating back to 1660 which was rung to remove the threat of thunderstorms.

The Sérénac forest is equipped to receive the public and to discover the forest ecosystem (interpretation and hiking trails, permanent orienteering course, mountain bike course, picnic areas). La forêt de Sérénac, forêt de chênes, de châtaigniers, de hêtres de charmes, d'alisiers, et quelques résineux de 200 ha à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'est d'Albi, était autrefois exploitée par le couvent de Saint-Louis-du-Désert. Elle devint ensuite forêt de production pour les mines de charbon et la verrerie de Carmaux. Aujourd'hui réhabilitée, elle est traversée de nombreux sentiers de randonnées et sentiers de découverte au départ de la Maison de la forêt.

The residence has been open since 2006. Artists' residency, project and research centre for professional artists working in all disciplines (design, painting, visual arts, music, writing, theatre, dance, film, multimedia, etc.). The Les Grivats cottage (110 m²), bright, spacious, well equipped will allow you to spend the holidays as you dreamed them in Ségala, in the Tarn. With its 3 bedrooms, you can enjoy this long-awaited moment of rest with family or friends. Les Rougemonts holiday cottage, situated in the oldest farm building on the site, dates from 1861 (90m²). It is the ideal place to stay in Ségala, Tarn for a wonderful holiday with family or friends, as it accommodates 4 to 5 people (two bedrooms). Imagine the activity in the living room a few decades ago, when you see the original cement tiles. But for your comfort, you'll find all the contemporary equipment you need to cook to your heart's content and a cosy living room to relax in. On the night side, there's a bedroom with blue/green tones and the morning sun to gently wake you up. The other bedroom, with its linen drapes, is more spacious and can accommodate 3 people. These two bedrooms share a large bathroom with double washbasin, shower and bath. This guest house has a beautiful, independent outdoor area that is perfect for children's activities. The guest houses share a laundry room with access to a washing machine. In summer, come and enjoy the large shared 11*6 swimming pool.
