This short hike offers beautiful views of the Garonne and Lot valleys. The first two kilometers will be used as a warm-up to attack the only difficulty of the route, at Luisant.

The Lot Valley véloroute, or cycle path, runs alongside the river for 86km down carefully-marked, gently-undulating paths. From where the Lot meets the Garonne, cycle past the town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and right up to Bonaguil fortified château. This riverside circuit is perfect for cyclists who want to drink in the wonderful scenery along the way, with green expanses of countryside, orchards, fortified towns and farms.

Plum and hazelnut orchards line the paths to the Salabert lake. This nature area is a place of botanical discovery and an observatory for migratory birds.

Located 30 km from Agen, Marmande, Villeneuve s/Lot and Nérac, the « Séchoir Palace » events hall is a traditional 'séchoir à tabac' (tobacco cellar) which has been renovated to host you and allow you to be transported by the music-hall experience and friendly environment. Enjoy the show which features feathers, glitter and french cancan along with magic and illusions. The séchoir palace is located on a 3.5 hectare property with a large car park able to accommodate cars and buses.

On the left bank of the Lot, a village rich in history awaits you: Bourran. Born from the merger of several villages, Bourran will surprise you with its 19th-century Protestant temple and the multiplicity of its medieval churches, scattered throughout its hamlets: the church of St-Pierre de Colleignes, the church of Saint-Vincent and the church of Saint-Brice. Listen as the old stones whisper of the history of this commune with its strong links to tobacco growing, and let your eyes sweep across the far reaches of this terrace on the Lot to rest on the dovecote of the Château de la Tour de Rance, a 17th-century historic monument.

Stop off in the hamlet of Saint-Vincent and discover its church! Over the centuries, the parish was successively part of the jurisdictions of Montpezat and Aiguillon. In the 17th century, the parish was called Sousompech, as opposed to Dominipech, located at the top of the hill. Enter these walls and contemplate the Piéta recently donated to the chapel.

The Tour de Rance estate was part of the temporal domain of the Abbey of Clairac, and was alienated from it until 1574, when Henri d'Angoulême took over the Abbey. The estate took its name when Guillaume de Ranse, esquire, lord of Plaisance and secretary to Henri de Navarre, then advisor to King Henri IV, acquired it. The dwelling was rebuilt in the 17th century, at the same time as the dovecote. Made of brick and plaster, it is listed as a historic monument.

The Temple de Bourran was one of the very first temples built in Lot-et-Garonne in the 19th century. Abandoned and dilapidated, it was moved and rebuilt in the 1880s, where it stands today. The temple, now a hundred years old, is still visited, but only on rare occasions.

Located in the hamlet of Saint-Brice, the church originally dates back to the Middle Ages. The building, once located on the old cemetery in the Poulard area, was constantly flooded: in the 19th century, the town council decided to rebuild the church on unsinkable ground, its current site.

Formerly a graphic designer, three years ago I took a vocational training course in Bayonne to become a chocolate confectioner. I then joined the family farm to develop the various fruits. The range of jams and confectionery (caramels, fruit jellies, syrups, nectars) is quite varied, with both traditional and unusual recipes featuring blends of fruit, spices and aromatic herbs. My father, who is very involved in my project, is developing a "citrus grove" so that I can offer rare citrus jams such as citron or Buddha's hand. I make everything in my laboratory in the traditional way, in small quantities so as to control quality. The vast majority of the fruit is produced in the Lot-et-Garonne region, although for some recipes I use exotic ingredients such as vanilla.

The church of Saint-Pierre de Colleignes dates back to the late Gothic period. Like the surrounding churches, it was largely demolished by the Huguenots during the Wars of Religion. Sometimes closed or abandoned, it was completely restored at the end of the 19th century. In the 1980s, a local association was formed to restore the church, including rebuilding the bell tower.

The history of Clairac is inseparable from that of its Benedictine abbey, which was internationally renowned in the Middle Ages. The abbey, as well as the village that was built around its walls, reached its peak in the 12th and 13th centuries. At that time there were 120 monks who worked in the fields as well as copying manuscripts. The abbot of Clairac was also the lord of the village and commanded two bastides, five priories and about fifty parishes. The monks also owned two mills on the Lot. The income generated by the abbey was considerable at the time. But the most important inheritance was unexpected: the plum tree from Damascus, brought back from the Crusades, was in fact "entered", i.e. grafted, by them for the first time. They also discovered the process of sun-drying, inventing at once the "ente" plum and the Agen plum!
