You are near the lake of Vassivière and at the doors of the PNR of Millevaches in Limousin.

During this hike, explore the communal laundry in Saint-Amand-le-Petit, the restored church, the old tram station and the weighbridge.Hiking from the town hall, take the road towards the D940-Lessilade. At the crossroads, take the road on the left for 50 metres, pausing to admire the weighbridge and the old tram station. Then turn around and follow the road to Eymoutiers for 150 m.Take the path on the left and go up to the clearing.At the clearing, go straight down to the road to Eymoutiers. Follow this road to the left and continue for 400 m.Take the small road on the right towards La Faye and continue until you reach the village. Go through the village of La Faye.Take a small path on the right which passes through woods for 20 m.At the end of the road, continue on the road to the right, going up towards the village of Saint-Amand-le-Petit.Walk past the Church of Saint-Amand and admire the granite cross. It is possible to enter the church through the wooden door below the gate. Push the door hard. The church is open all year round.

This loop will take you through the Maulde valley, passing through villages and hamlets where you'll appreciate the quality of our environment. Numerous viewpoints await you along the way!

The Mont Larron loop takes you to the commune of Saint-Julien-le-Petit, where you'll discover the valley of the Maulde, a small river that rises in the Creuse and feeds Lake Vassivière. You'll be able to admire the 624-metre-high Mont Larron, as well as views of the puys and mountains of the Limousin region.

The objective of this third stage of the GR® de Pays Monts et Barrage in Limousin is the majestic Lac de Vassivière! But before you can relax there, you'll have to cover 23 km and climb 670 m to reach one of Haute-Vienne's highest peaks, Puy la Besse, topped by its Tumulus. A breathtaking view of the Plateau de Millevaches awaits you. Along the way, take a break in the village of Peyrat-le-Château to enjoy its charm and shops, before continuing your ascent towards Quenouille, a small village with preserved rural buildings typical of the Montagne Limousine: granite houses, bread ovens, washhouses, drinking troughs and wells line the roads and paths adorned with low dry-stone walls. One last effort and you've arrived at your destination on the banks of France's 7th largest man-made lake, a sight to behold!

The "circuit des légendes" is a 23.5 km circuit around the lake, a large part of which was used during the 3 Tour de France time trials (1985,1990,1995) held at Vassivière. The great men of cycling who have fought it out on these Vassivière roads wanted this circuit to pay tribute to its greatest champion, Raymond Poulidor, who made his debut here.

Departing from Auphelle, this fourth stage of the 17km GR® de Pays Monts et Barrages en Limousin takes you to Nedde, in the heart of the Limousin mountains. For the first few kilometers, the trail skirts the shore of the lake, offering fine panoramic views of Vassivière Island. It then gradually moves away from the lake, winding its way through forests, moors and damp valleys, passing through the alvéoles, a typical feature of the Montagne Limousine. Along the way, you'll come to appreciate the tranquility of the landscape. On arrival, the picturesque village of Nedde welcomes you with its richly preserved heritage.

Walk alongside the beach at Auphelle and pass behind the hotel. Continue alongside the port of Auphelle and continue straight ahead.At the campsite turn right and continue straight ahead. Continue through the Crozat Woods.Go back up onto the road, following it on the left, then 50 m further on take the trail to the left and, immediately, to the right. Cross the road and take the path opposite.When you reach the road, turn left and follow the road.Follow the path to the left along the lake. Go past a wooden pontoon and continue straight ahead.When you reach the road, turn left.When you arrive in Nergout, follow the trail to the left. Go down and then go up the stairs and along the beach. Go across the beach at Vauveix. In the village of Peyrat-Le-Château, 7 km from the Vassivière Lake (1000 ha) with supervised swimming, beaches, water activities, fishing, hiking around the lake, taxi boat..., small house adjoining the owner's house. Excavated as early as the 15th century, it served as a water reserve for fires, a basin for retting hemp and a drinking trough for animals. Today, it covers 7.5 hectares in the heart of the village of Peyrat le Château. Pond managed by the fishing federation. This church, dedicated to Saint Martin, was burnt down by the Brabantons in 1184 and rebuilt in the 15th century. Several chapelries and vicarages were founded here. The south portal appears to date from the 13th century, and the north portal from the 15th. The interior features a 17th-century altarpiece, old woodwork, a 15th-century chapel and a 13th-century vault. The church was completely restored in 1863 and the bell tower was built in 1893.

Discovering Georges Guingouin's maquis Dedicated to Colonel Georges Guingouin's 1st FTP Limousin Marching Brigade, the Museum strives to transmit, honor and defend the memory of the sacrifices made and the struggles waged by the men and women of Georges Guingouin's maquis. The various exhibition rooms evoke the commitment of G. Guingouin, "figure of the Resistance", the birth and actions of the maquis, the tragedies of Tulle and Oradour sur Glane, as well as the internment camps in Haute-Vienne and the Nazi concentration and extermination camps. You can also view the re-enactment of the German surrender in Limoges, and watch the documentary "Première Brigade", featuring the testimonies of maquis companions. Temporary exhibitions related to the Second World War are also on offer

Around the year 1000, before the creation of the pond, an enclosure protected a motte castrale dominating the site. In the 15th century, this was replaced by the square tower, the gate tower, which was at the heart of the defensive remodeling of the enclosure. In the 17th and 18th centuries, a residential building was added to this tower, giving the building its current appearance.
