The commune of Roussac, in the Haute-Vienne region, opens up to hikers with this easy 12 km route, which takes 3 hours to complete. Don't miss the village with its 12th-century church, the villages of Le Verger, Fourvieux and Quinsac, the cross and the beautiful mansions at La Cour and Grimaudy. A special feature of the Haut Limousin trails is the discovery of paths with low dry-stone walls. The forest is present, as is the Couze, a small stream that is refreshing in summer. Connection with the Bruyères trail via Beauguet.

This nature trail in the heart of the Monts de Blond, in Limousin, near Limoges, is an invitation to walk in the valley of the Glayeule and its remarkable biodiversity. The hike offers many viewpoints on the Monts de Blond and invites the hiker to cross the forest of Vécau. To see on the path the village of Chamborêt and the church Saint-Antoine, of the end of the XIXth century.

On this circuit you will walk through the Comprinius estate, which was until the 18th century the place where travellers from Paris passed through. Follow the tramway line which served the north of the Haute-Vienne from 1908 to 1949.

Marie Annick and her husband are very fond of animals, and live with a dog and two cats, so it's regrettably not possible for them to accept the presence of other pets. Smoking is permitted outside.

This 11th-century Romanesque church (bay on the north side) was altered in 1832 when the cemetery was moved outside the village. It was consolidated after the storm of 1999. It belonged to the Saint-Martial de Limoges monastery, and was later annexed to Roussac. On the south side, the triangular gable facade features 2 sculpted modillions. The bell tower is clad in chestnut shingles.

The picnic table is set up at the entrance to the village, next to the old weighbridge.

The site of Saint Martin groups together a chapel, a miraculous fountain, a rock linked to legend, a replica of Lourdes’ cave and a cross. The chapel existed before 1512 and fell apart et the French Revolution. It was built again in 1869 and blessed in 1870 May 1st. It fell apart again and was built another time in 1919. Despite its little dimensions, its simple architecture and its location in the middle of the woods, it has always been a very important pilgrimage place. The most important one takes place the first Sunday of May. In 1960, mare than a thousand people took part in. The principal procession began after the mass ended and first stopped at the rock. The legend tells that the mule’s Saint let its tracks in this rock (another legend says that it is the Saint himself who had kneeled down on creating these holes). Some pilgrims kneeled down on it to cure pain or to protect themselves from it. Then, the pilgrims went to the replica of Lourdes’ cave and to the fountain. It was well known to cure pain; some people bathed in, others filled bottles with its water and some others threw coins to protect children when then walk. On the cross that dominate the site, people let votive offerings : children clothes, linen, little bags of wool or animal hair (Saint Marti protects the cattle). The procession ended at the chapel where people gave offerings, where they lighted candles and where they touched the altar and inside walls. Sometimes, this procession looked like a huge fair where numerous stallholders came to sale their products to pilgrims.

We recommend stopping off in Nantiat for a picnic break! This stopover gives you the opportunity to visit the town's interesting built heritage: the church with its stained glass windows dating from 1914-1915, which pay tribute to the soldiers who died in the canton, the baptistery and the Croix Parot menhir.

The present church was built between 1829 and 1833. The statues from the former church were transferred here. It comprises a 3-bay nave, flanked by 4 semi-circular chapels. The circular choir has a half-dome vault. In 1867, the church was decorated with murals.

Take a break in the center of Nantiat and visit the town's heritage: the church (stained glass windows dating from 1914-1915, paying tribute to the town's fallen soldiers), the baptistery and the Croix Parot menhir.

The commune of Thouron is characterized by its multitude of ponds (over a hundred!). Small watercourses, meadows and wooded areas also add to its charm. Don't forget to stop off at the war memorial depicting a Limousin shepherdess in costume and clogs.
