It has been dated to the Middle Magdalenian period, 15,000 years ago. The site boasts the longest preserved prehistoric frieze (20 metres) in situ, carved, painted and engraved. The works are of a rare finesse. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1955, it is closed to the public for conservation reasons. On the borders of Berry and Touraine, Angles-sur-l'Anglin owes its name to the Saxon tribe of Angles that invaded England in the 5th century, as well as to the river that separates the upper and lower parts of the village. As for its reputation, it is its "days", magnificent handmade embroideries, which have made it for 150 years and, much further back in history, its Magdalenian sculpted frieze (15000 years old!) of the Roc aux Sorciers...

Romanesque church topped by a square tower. The nave ends in an apse and two apsidioles forming the arms of the cross on the transept. The square, two-storey bell tower is pierced by Romanesque windows with three columns grouped at each corner. Beneath the bell tower, the dome rests on a bevelled stringcourse. Devoid of carved ornamentation, the church is vaulted in wood, with round arches, and wooden battens nailed to supports that rest on crossbeams.

This building is the only remaining bay of a former abbey church, destroyed around 1835. The original church belonged to an abbey founded in the late 11th century by Isenbert I, Bishop of Poitiers. The foundation stone was laid in 1175, and the church was dedicated in 1192. It was probably built in the Poitevin Romanesque style. It has a Latin cross floor plan and comprises a two-bay nave, a transept with two chapels and a choir. The facade has a very regular layout, with a main portal flanked by two smaller false portals; two long geminated windows above; a pediment pierced by two windows whose banisters form an acute angle at the bottom of which runs a cornice resting on modillions.
