The site, owned by the Conseil Départemental de la Gironde, has been the subject of a major development program linked to the discovery of nature and relaxation. It offers a multitude of leisure and outdoor activities. Come and recharge your batteries on this beautiful 15km walk, in the heart of a protected area. You will take many paths, in the middle of the dense forest of the Landes de Gascogne. This hike is practicable as well on foot as on bicycle! On your way, you will perhaps cross some horses, because it is also possible to make the turn of the lake of Bousquey with horseback!

This route is temporarily closed. Recharge your batteries with this 11km walk in the heart of a protected area. You will follow many paths in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne forest This hike can be done on foot or by bike. There are variants for mountain bikes (red and black trial course).

This stage passes through the Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne, with its immense pine forest planted by man, and the river Leyre, where you can take a refreshing break. Since the fires of 2022, there have been fewer trees in the landscape, but nature is quickly reclaiming its rights! Great! This part of the route is a great opportunity for a swim or picnic: head for the Domaine Départemental Gérard Lagors. Discover Noaillan with the Municipal Youth Council! On the initiative of the Municipal Youth Council, the heritage trail was inaugurated on 17 November 2018. You leave from the site of Antonion on the edge of Ciron, you go up the Ciron river to discover the castle of Noaillan, the church, the children's forest, the Dubernet estate, the wash-house. This 2 hour walk along the water will make you discover the heritage of Noaillan. On the route, you will discover QR-Codes that you can flash with your smartphone to access additional information. This route is accessible to everyone, even children.

This first local hiking loop of 6.5 km, inaugurated on May 14, 2017 during the spring festival of the commune, mainly uses rural roads (CR). It allows the walker to rise about forty meters and cross various landscapes. At the highest points, he will find himself in what was once a moorland area maintained for sheep. At the lowest points, he will feel the freshness of the Gât-mort valley and the originality of its habitats. As a well-informed walker, he will perceive and note the environmental changes along the way up and down, before returning to his starting point: the Place de l'Église in the center of the village of Saint-Morillon.

The Pitchouret gîte is ideally located at the crossroads of the paths leading to the treasures of the Gironde coast and the inland. In the heart of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park, you'll be staying in Belin Beliet, at the gateway to the Landes and its maritime pine forest, home to typical villages and large lakes (Sanguinet and Biscarosse). You'll be able to take part in a wide range of sporting activities, with cycle paths, canoeing down the Leyre river, horse-riding centers and a water sports park at Hostens lake. Lovers of old stones will appreciate the 11th-century church of old Lugos, or further afield, the medieval town of Bazas and its cathedral. Just forty kilometers from Bordeaux and the Bassin d'Arcachonle, the Pitchouret gîte is set in an unspoilt natural environment with tall trees, varied ferns and bodies of water.

It's a ?cabin? that blends perfectly into the forest environment, to the point of being practically invisible. After watching an educational film and chatting with a ?Paloumayre?, you visit the various strategic areas of the palombière. The "Oueyte" is explained to you, so you can spy on the arrival of the flights, the decoys, the ground, and so on. At the end of your visit, you'll have the opportunity to share a snack or Gascon meal with the ?Paloumayre?

Following the takeover of the churches by the communes, the church of Saint-Jean was abandoned and destroyed. The one that stands today, rather simple and similar to the church of Cabanac, dates from 1879 but keeps its bell, a painting and an original peg.

Due to the fires in summer 2022, only the beaches and the tour of the Bourg and Lamothe lakes are accessible. Apart from these, access to the entire Domaine Départemental d?Hostens and the Gât-Mort lagoons is forbidden until further notice. Work is underway to make the site safe, and there is a significant risk of falling trees and landslides. The former Hostens brown coal quarries now form a 600-hectare natural area of lakes and forest. Owned by the Conseil Départemental de la Gironde, the area has been developed for the discovery of the environment and the practice of outdoor leisure activities.

The Domaine Départemental de Sports et de Loisirs Gérard Lagors in Hostens is a 600-hectare estate equipped for exploration of the natural milieu and for a range of outdoor leisure activities (including mountain biking, canoeing, archery, climbing, tennis and bathing). The beach is supervised from June to September. The estate also offers visitors a chance to try their hand at its “Escalad’arbres” – a mixed, removable forest trail made up of ropes and cables. Qualified supervision from April to October.

A wash house, located in the village of Cabanac et Villagrains, next to the church, is supplied with drinking water.

The church, located on a small mound in the heart of the village, overlooks the wash house which is fed by a drinking water source where many people still come to get water because it is said to be fresh and light.

Curiosity has always been on two mounds at the entrance to the village of Cabanac. This heap of earth and stones still keeps its secret as to its origin.

Although there is only one town hall and more than one school group, everything is duplicated in the commune: two wash houses, two prisons, two village halls and two churches: Saint Martin de Cabanac, which is a Romanesque church in its rear part and contains a remarkable Way of the Cross and magnificent stained glass windows, and Saint Jean de Villagrains Today, there are only remains of this village, only one partially destroyed house remains. The church was dismantled, the houses collapsed and the cemetery disappeared under the vegetation. In 1879, the church that had been abandoned was rebuilt in the present village of Villagrains. Only a bell dated 1544 still remains. The two main current economic resources of this forested commune are the wood industry and gravel extraction.
