In the heart of the Xaintrie Blanche, go and meet a varied territory which will not leave you unmoved. These hilly landscapes, bordered by meadows and forests where water is omnipresent in the form of small springs and streams, which has long favored this land of breeding. You will walk from the village of Nadieu to Hautebrousse where you will discover the typical architecture of the Xaintrie. Chapels and crosses bear witness to this land of belief, listen and look. A century ago, the peddlers used to go to Aurillac (Cantal) to buy umbrellas and sell them all over France: this was the beginning of their fortune, and the origin of some of the big buildings of Saint-Julien aux Bois. The architectural heritage is the first strong point of this hike: you can see in the village an old presbytery of the 18th century rehabilitated today in town hall and some typical houses of Xaintrie. You will discover the very beautiful village of Clamensac with its old mill. 2nd highlight: the playful and lively reconstruction of the Medieval Farms of Xaintrie by an enthusiast who will plunge you into the life of the Xaintric peasants of the Middle Ages.

In a small grove, set back from the forest track, lies the Sagiran cross, now a wooden cross. In former times, the cross must have been made of stone and served as a landmark for travellers. Perhaps it was a place of worship. In the village of Sagiran, take the time to admire a breeding of beautiful Appaloosa horses, which you can eventually ride to continue your walk.

On this 58.1 km long sportive route, you will discover the Xantrie, a granite plateau cut by deep gorges drawn by three rivers: the Maronne, the Cère and the Dordogne. Your journey begins in the charming fortified village of Servières-le-Château. Situated on a rocky spur, it overlooks the Glane torrent. Your tour takes you to Auriac, known for the presence of the top-of-the-range beauty products brand Sothys, it is the ideal setting for a nature break with the highest point of the Xaintrie at Puy du Bassin, an opportunity to take in the sights. A few kilometres further on, put your bikes down in Saint Julien-Aux-Bois, near the Cantal, for a trip back in time to the Medieval Farms of Xaintrie! This reconstructed village is under constant construction and allows you to discover the peasant life of the Middle Ages.

Situated in the south-eastern part of Corrèze, on the border with Cantal, this circuit winds its way across a hilly plateau between the Dordogne Valley, classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the Maronne Valley with its famous Tours de Merle and the Monts d'Auvergne. This is an atypical region with Cantalien influences and incomparable architecture where the first Salers cows were bred.

Good foot, good eye to discover this path in two loops, often lined with low stone walls, going from village to village rich in traditional heritage with the wells of Champeil, the granite peasant houses and roofs of lauze, the trefoil cross, the gables of barns with redans, the well with balance of Massoubrot ... with also a magnificent view on the Cantal Mountains.

Right from the start, you'll discover the Chapelle du Puy du Bassin, nestling in its green setting, erected in 1918 on the ruins of an old chapel, with a statue of the Virgin Mary (1876) beside it. Nearby, the "Paris meridian" is marked by a stone base. The Puy du Bassin is the highest point in the Xaintrie Blanche at 709 m, with a breathtaking view of the Auvergne mountains. You then follow a path through the Puy du Bassin forest to the village of Dézéjouls, where you can admire its chapel dating from 1839 and the traditional Xaintrie buildings with their lauze roofs. We recommend that you finish your walk with a visit to the village of Auriac, where you can admire the 11th-century fortified church with its "César" defense tower, the 13th-century Saint-Géraud priory, the Romanesque gateway from the Valette Abbey, which has sunk beneath the sea

Winding permanently through shaded undergrowth on either side of the Glane gorges, this physical circuit makes a loop that includes the junction between the village of Servières, with its ancient castle keep, and the magnificent village of Glény on the edge of the Dordogne, with its pretty stone houses with slate or slate roofs. It also goes along the majestic climbing site of N.D du Roc.

The interior layout has been very well thought out, with no loss of space to accommodate architectural constraints. Small but functional! Situated on a vast plot of land with a horizon of fields as far as the eye can see, the house is detached from the owners' house, which is not far away. You'll feel right at home in this warm, cocooning little house, where the peace, quiet and comfort will enable you to relax and forget your daily routine for the duration of your stay... And relax by the swimming pool shared with the owners, covered and heated from May to September. Breakfasts can be ordered on request.

Les Fermes du Moyen Age is an open-air site where authentic buildings have been reassembled to form a 15th-century village! This village, still under construction, bears witness to the rural life of the people of Xaintrie (nestled between the Dordogne valley and the Auvergne volcanoes). You'll enter several fully furnished farmhouses dating from the late 15th century, as well as outbuildings such as the mill, the chapel and the notary's dwelling. You'll be amazed by the scents and ambience, the domesticated animals in their stables and meadows, the smoke-filled, blackened kitchens, not to mention the gardens with over 350 plants.

Come and discover the role of the Chastang dam, its characteristics and the challenges of hydroelectricity, by visiting the inside of the dam and its ODYSSELEC area, which is open to the public. A visit to the plant is available at an additional cost (strongly recommended): a guide will take you deep into the workings of hydroelectricity, accompanying you to the heart of this exceptional structure. Due to the Vigipirate and security plans, the visit is limited to 15 people and to children aged 8 and over. Animals not allowed (except guide dogs)
