Leaving Entrevaux, classified as one of France's most beautiful villages, the trail passes the hermitage of St Jean du Désert, before reaching the hamlet of Ourges via the St Jean ravine. Past the St Joseph bridge, you reach Le Feït via a balcony.

Leaving from Entrevaux, an exceptional medieval town, this challenging itinerary combines the beauty of man-made scenery with olive-growing terraces and physical exertion. It invites you to explore its winding roads, natural surroundings and wild landscapes. From Entrevaux, head for Val de Chavagne and the villages of St Pierre, Collonques, Briançonnet, Ubraye and the clues de Rouaine on route nationale 202. At the Gueydan bridge, turn right to return to Entrevaux. This route will leave you with unforgettable memories of Haute-Provence.

1 Royal Gate, Machicolation Redoubt Main entrance to the village since 1658 with 18th century machicolation redoubt with openings on the road side. The machicolations made it possible to throw all sorts of projectiles at the attackers. 2 Drawbridge and towers In 1690, two rounded towers were built on either side of the bridge, as well as a machicolation barrier located above the bridge, which housed the two arrows of the drawbridge, known as the "bascule" bridge, which was raised at night until the middle of the 19th century. 3 Guardhouse This vast room once enabled the soldiers guarding the entrance to the village to communicate with the covered way. 4 Jail This police room was used to isolate suspects, petty criminals or as a "sobering up" room. 5 Hôtel du Commandant de la Place Residence of the officer who commanded the fortress or governor. Monumental two-leaf door with glass transom, Triple row of spires and rounded roof corners symbolising the homes of the nobility. 6 Bastioned tower of the Portette This bastion and that of the barracks were artillery towers. The roof, which is quite exceptional in Vauban constructions of this period, characterises these two bastions. 7 Balcony from the 17th century The wrought iron balcony is typical of the houses of the nobility. This was the residence of the Counts of Grasse-Briançon. It has been altered, but it still shows the poor fortune of the rural nobility. 8 Hotel of the Barons of Glandèves The Glandèves were lords of Entrevaux until 1542 and kept this hotel until the Revolution. With its triple row of windows, vast and numerous windows and monumental staircase, this hotel was transformed into a barracks in 1823. In front, on the rampart side, is the "bastion of the barracks". 9 School of Charity Known as the "Brothers' Schools", they were created in the 17th century for the instruction of boys. They were used as barracks during the Revolution. 10 Cathedral Built from 1604 to 1667, in Provençal Gothic style with a baroque heart, it is dedicated to "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption". Located at the eastern end of the city, it has been part of the fortifications since the end of the 17th century. 11 Gate of Italy A classic point of attack, including that of Charles V's troops in 1536. This gate, a weak point, was powerfully fortified by Vauban: guardhouse with watchtower (of which only traces remain), drawbridge, artillery loops. 12 Double horn This rampart (triangular M-shaped) protected the first drawbridge, itself overhung by a wall of skirmishers and the Pandol fort. The path known as the "olive trees" led to Italy and was an invasion route for Savoyard troops. Savoyard troops. 13 Canons' Chapter The canons assisted the bishop in his duties. The door is in the Renaissance style, with keel-shaped elements carved on the straight legs. 14 Episcopal Palace Residence of the bishop within the walls. Note the triple row of genoese, the double door with a glass transom and the large windows. The bishops were all members of the nobility. 15 Renaissance door Beautiful 15th century doorway with stone lintel (late gothic, early renaissance). 16 Clock tower With its wrought iron bell tower, a classic in Provence. 17 Banal oven Bread ovens were generally the property of the lords, their use was subject to a fee, hence their name. Private individuals who owned an oven still had to pay a fee to the lord. 18 Medieval market stall Characterised by the two merchandise stands on either side of the door. Many stalls have been transformed, and you will find traces of them along the streets. 19 Former St. James' Hospice In the Middle Ages, the hospice was both a hotel for travellers and a care facility for the sick. It served as a hospital until the 1960s. 20 Porte de France With drawbridge and adjoining guardhouse. 22 Armoury Reserve shop, armoury. 23 Access to the citadel and the Poudrière Museum To reach the fortress: 25 minutes' walk, 800 m of path divided into 9 successive ramps, 156 m difference in height. The powder magazine museum retraces the military history of the village. These 58 m2 could hold 9 tons of powder. This was far too much for Entrevaux and extremely dangerous.

Magnificent panorama of Entrevaux village, the Citadel and surrounding peaks. Return via La Seds, where the first inhabitants settled during the Roman Empire. Departure from the aqueduct, at the end of Place Louis Moreau. The hike follows the start of the GR4. Walk along the road to the last houses and take the path that comes out onto the road. At the intersection, turn left towards Les Tuves. The hike continues along the asphalt road towards the hamlet of Les Tuves. After passing all the houses in the hamlet and before the Domaine de Glandèves, the path turns left. The path begins a pleasant descent through the forest to the Neigeas district. Return via the road that leads to the station area.

Stroll through the hamlet of Le Champ, offering lovely views of Entrevaux village and its Citadel. From the pharmacy at Place Moreau, take the D610 towards "Villevieille", "Montblanc" and "Bay". After several metres, the path leaves the road and winds its way between several houses in the Les Bayons district. The path then rises towards the hamlet of Bay until it reaches the junction with the route de Bay. A few metres after this junction, the path begins to descend. After a passage through the forest, cross the Ribière on an attractive wooden bridge and discover the hamlet of Champ in Val de Chalvagne. Return by the same route.

Follow in the footsteps of the Romans along the ancient Roman road to the Château de Castellet-Saint-Cassien, once the summer residence of the Lords of Glandèves d'Entrevaux. After the post office, follow the D911 in the direction of Brianconnet. After 300 m, turn left to avoid a section of road. The route then skirts the road again for 300 metres until you reach the Roman road on the left, where a gradual climb begins (approx. 400 metres) in a mineral and forest atmosphere. There are several cairns to help you find your way. Don't hesitate to turn around to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Entrevaux citadel on its rocky outcrop, and this section also offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and the rocky bar rising above the river Chalvagne. The route then joins the road to Castellet-Saint-Cassien, which offers fine panoramic views of the wooded mountains of the Haut Esteron. Finally, follow the GR 4, which runs mainly through undergrowth, mainly pine, to descend to Entrevaux.

Built between 1610 and 1627, the cathedral's crenellated bell tower and powerful buttresses reinforce its defensive appearance. Its Gothic architecture is complemented by an astonishing Baroque interior. Once the cathedral of the bishop of Glandèves (who moved his main residence to Entrevaux in the early 17th century), it was "Cathédrale de Glandèves" from 1624 to 1790. It houses a wealth of listed furnishings, including the altar, the altarpiece and the 18th-century painting depicting the Baptism of Christ, -the altarpiece (1716) and François Mimault's painting of the Donation of the Rosary (1631), the 53 17th-century walnut stalls, -the pulpit, from the end of the century or the beginning of the following century, decorated with bas-reliefs of the four Evangelists, A series of paintings: the Vow of Louis XIII, dated around 1630, an Assumption by François Mimault, dated 1630, a representation of the Holy Family, from the second half of the 17th century, an 18th-century silver-plated copper bust-reliquary of Saint John the Baptist, used for processions in June and August. -The organs date from 1717, and were restored in 1864 and 1948. The instrumental part is by Jean Eustache.

Some 100 specimens of two-wheeled machines, in perfect working order, are presented simply on their crutches or hung on the museum's picture rails like paintings by old masters. A must-see for lovers of fine bikes. 105 motorcycles arranged on 3 levels, by chronological era: - models from 1910 to 1948 on the first floor - models from 1950 to 1960 on the second floor - and models from 1970-1980 in a basement to be created in 2021, in honor of the museum's 40th anniversary!

This ancient sandstone cross, located south of Annot, is sheltered by a canopy built upon four limestone columns. Despite its name, Croix Romane (or Roman Cross), and the date given on the classification decree, stylistic analysis suggests it dates from the 16th century. It is shown on the 1/14,000-scale Carte de Provence by the Ingénieurs Géographes militaires (1764-1765). It also appears on the 1830 cadastral map, on a "dry" plot belonging to Coste Honoré Jean-Baptiste. It is located a few dozen meters south of a former chapel, Notre-Dame des Auches, which appears on the Carte de Provence, on the Carte de Cassini and on the cadastral map of 1830, when it became part of the commune of Annot. The columns of the baldachin are similar to others used as replacements in houses around the Annot church. At one time dedicated to Saint Pons, this church was first mentioned in 1042 in a donation charter made by the local lord of the area at the Saint-Victor abbey in Marseille.

Housed in what was once the winery of the Maison Rabiers du Villars, the Regain museum unveils a new exhibition each year, focusing on the traditions of the Pays d'Annot. In 2025, you'll discover a new exhibition. In the Louis Barral room (archaeologist who explored the St Benoît caves in 1950 with the team from Monaco's Musée Anthropologique Préhistorique): Exhibition of artifacts found in the St Benoît and Méailles caves during these excavations. Built in 1681, replacing the former wooden bridge, the Vaïre bridge has pedestrianised bays which were added in 1711. The bridge was shortened due to the town square being extended and there are now only four arches, yet there were seven before.

The Vérimande chapel was most likely built on the site of a Templar chapel. Today the chapel is sheltered by a canopy roof and remains a place of pilgrimage during the annual Saint Fortunat festival.

This clue represents a cut between two mountains, it is the paradise of the canyonists who rub shoulders with these limestone cliffs and cold water pots of the Esteron. During refreshing "supervised" descents, the practitioners combine the fun and the pleasure of discovery.

It is one of the most visited sites of the Préalpes d'Azur Regional Natural Park. It is an exceptional geological formation, with striking views of the Esteron. The place has an ear, referring to a large balsam on the Esteron. It served as a habitat, and excavations revealed fragments of ceramics from the late Bronze Age.
