Built on a rocky spur, both the medieval fortress and the chapel offer a grand panoramically view on the Forez, Lyonnais and Auvergne mountains.

Situated at an altitude of 834 metres, this basalt outcrop is a major geological formation. It has become a recreational discovery area with information panels and picnic tables.

Overlooking the village of Chalmazel, the fortified house of Marcilly Talaru's family is surprisingly authentic. Indeed it has kept its high round towers with machicolations and its parapet walk.

Chalmazel church has a complete serie of stained glass windows signed by Théodore Gérard Hanssen (1855-1957), master glazier who revolutionized the art of stained glass. An audio guide with the voice of Brigitte Fossey is installed and available free of charge depending on opening hours.

The Château de Goutelas is a heritage, cultural and tourist site emblematic of Forez and its history. Awarded the “Centre Culturel de Rencontre” label by the French Ministry of Culture, Goutelas comes alive throughout the year with meetings and debates, shows and concerts, tours and workshops, exhibitions and more. With its atypical spaces, 6 modular, fully-equipped meeting rooms, 27 double rooms and on-site catering, Goutelas is an ideal venue for professional events and seminars. The park and surrounding forest are freely accessible.
