To find peace and quiet and recharge your batteries far from the big cities, this itinerary combines a walk in the woods and a stroll through the vineyards between the churches of the two parishes of Saint-Pé and Saint-Simon.

An immemorial point of passage on the Ténarèze Roman road, this open and lively landscape is made up of woods and vineyards. You can also learn about the land in the farms, around the products of the fat, the local wines, the Armagnac and the Floc de Gascogne.

The sand of the Landes and the clay of the valleys, the cultivated forest of pines and the older and wilder forest of oaks, hazelnuts and acacias, here is a contrasting walk in the heart of nature. Shortly after departure you will discover the site of Gueyze with the old castle and the fortified mill of the 15th century and its church of the 11th century with its trefoil apse. After the monument dedicated to the Néracais resistance fighters, you will cross the Gueyze river. You will then begin a long forest path which leads to the clearing surrounding the church of Meylan. After the town hall, alternatively sandy or sandy paths cross coniferous plantations, but also hornbeam, acacia and oak woods. Cross the Gueyze again on a two-arch bridge to reach the adjoining town hall.

This narrow and deep green valley conceals treasures of surprises: towns with a strong personality, rich and luxuriant vegetation. To discover them, follow the old railway line from Sos to Mézin.

This small walk without great difficulty will offer you at first, a very beautiful sight on the valley of the Gélise and thereafter, a walk on the paths of the Landaise forest.

Over the centuries, it was built around its castle, built in the 13th century, to control the valley, then it developed on the slope down to the river. Butcheries were established in the 19th century and continued until the 20th century. The economy of Poudenas is based primarily on its pine forests and vineyards of Armagnac. The wheat mill of Poudenas also visible on this circuit was built in the 16th century on the banks of the Gélise.

Departing from Lac de la Forêt, the loop, entirely in the undergrowth with a themed circuit and its palm groves, offers views of the countryside, the town and the Pyrenees. The supervised beach and the tavern of the lake leisure center will welcome lovers of relaxation and swimming.

The south of Albret is the heart of the A.O.C. Armagnac-Ténarèze. Crossing the vineyards, you will smell the powerful perfumes of this brandy produced in old and traditional copper stills.

The commune of Lannes, in the heart of the Albret country, is composed of hilly landscapes, bordered by the Landes forest, and by the Auzoue and Osse rivers. In 1287, the castrum is held by Bertrand de Grauhet. It is more particularly a castelnau. The town was then a border post with a garrison of 20 soldiers. It has a fortified church to the east, a castle to the west, and ramparts complete this defensive set. From the 16th century to the Revolution, the lordship of Villeneuve is the property of the family of Noillan. It depends on the royal justice of Mézin. The economy of Lannes is essentially based on agriculture and the production of wine, Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne, local aperitifs.

In south-west France, on the border of the Lot-et-Garonne, Gers and Landes regions, in a calm and authentic setting, two stone-built outbuildings of the beautiful Mézinais farm have been converted into five guest houses. A stay at the spacious Camélia guest house, located near the Ténarèze Roman road and the Scandibérique bike trail (linking Norway to the Saint James of Compostela Way) and the Gélise river, in a natural landscape of woodland and vineyards, is an opportunity to discover the local produce and wines of the region including Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne.

Sandra and Philip produce a range of organic and natural wines and organic lamb. Their challenge is to reveal unexplored dimensions of the Ugni Blanc grape on this exceptional terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand and the vinification is done by parcel The flock of sheep and lambs graze in the vineyards during the winter period and bring them a natural fertilizer while weeding them. Five 100% ugni blanc vintages are produced in dry, semi-dry and sweet wines in the "Sables Fauves" appellation and IGP Landes.

You will find it for sale in the form of half lamb (about 10 kg) or whole lamb, cut up and vacuum-packed. Sandra also proposes you her canned lamb with white wine.
