Château d’Hautefort is located 28 km north of Montignac and the Lascaux caves in the Vézère Valley of the Dordogne. This fortress, which once belonged to Bertran de Born, is a blend of medieval defence features with a classical centre castle built between 1630 and 1670. The castle was transformed into a leisure manor in the 17th century, and today it houses a remarkable collection of period furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Includes an English-style park and French-style gardens designed by the Count of Choulot in the 19th century along terraces; the garden is now on the register of historic places.

Its construction in Romanesque style dates back to the end of the 11th or the beginning of the 12th century. The choir remains. The bell-wall and the nave, later, probably date from the end of the 16th century. Its choir is classified on February 10, 1903 under the title of historic monuments and the rest of the church is entirely registered on February 21, 2006.

Medieval church Romanesque church that was originally connected to the castle. Only two square bays remain, following a semicircular apse in the cul de four. A third span, which was destroyed, established the link with one of the castle's dungeons. The church was vaulted in domes which have now been demolished. On top of the triumphal arch rises a bell tower with arches. Inside, the apse is decorated with arches on columns. The exterior is polygonal. The interior floor has been raised. The western wall is of later construction than the church and seems to have been raised after the destruction of the bay that joined the church to the castle. Open daily from 9:30 am to 8 pm. The construction of the church dates back to the end of the 11th - 12th century. The church has a Latin cross plan, with a 30 m. long nave, a 22 m. long transept (cross and arms) and a choir with a five-pointed polygonal apse from the eastern facade. The western façade consists of a bell-tower-wall dating back to the end of the 19th century. It has undergone various transformations: removal of the apsidioles, construction of a sacristy, ...

On the Perigordin causse, in Pays d'Ans, Marie-Claude and Jean-Paul welcome you to their truffle-field to share their passion and make you discover the mysteries of the truffle. During the visit (about 1h30), you will learn about truffle tree maintenance, truffle lifecycle, its varieties, tree species, and different trenching techniques : with a fly (according to the season), or with the dog (according to his mood). The visit ends with a tasting of truffled butter toasts with a glass of wine. Special tastings available on request.
