From Meuvaines and Asnelles, head for Arromanches-les-Bains via the inland and coastal routes, as you follow in the footsteps of the British 231st Brigade. Over this route, you will discover a share of the history of the British troops’ advance thanks to different explanatory panels and sites.

From Arromanches to Grandcamp-Maisy, 51km offering the most beautiful views of the D-Day beaches by bike: the artificial harbor, the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer, Port-en-Bessin, the US cemetery, and Pointe du Hoc.

Relive D-Day and the famous Battle of Normandy. Set off on a discovery tour of these legendary beaches, theatre of a major page in history - Operation Overlord on 6th June 1944. The quiet roads along this cycling route take you through some pretty villages boasting charming manor farms built during the region’s prosperous farming period.

This new green way between Longues-sur-Mer and Arromanches offers extraordinary panoramic views and exceptional sea views over the vestiges of the D-Day Landings. An attractive landscaped and historic itinerary along 8km of route, specially designed for cyclists.

From Ryes to Noyers-bocage, continue along William the Conqueror’s route as you cover portions 3 and 4 of his epic ride.

From the church in Ryes, climb up to the Monts de Ryes plateau that overlooks the Gronde valley. From there, you can marvel at the panorama over Ryes, to the south, and Saint-Côme-de-Fresné and the artificial harbour in Arromanches to the north.

Set off from Ver-sur-Mer and discover Crepon and Bazenville as you follow in the footsteps of the British 69th Brigade. Along the route, different panels offer information on the brigade’s advance just after the D-Day Landings in 1944.

From Creully and its medieval castle, take to the heights to admire the Seulles valley from above, before heading back down to discover Saint-Gabriel Brécy and its priory.

Departing from Vienne-en-Bessin, take to the heights and follow the paths that overlook the Seulles valley. Along this verdant valley, you will discover some fine panoramic views and striking built heritage in the villages or along the banks of the Seulles.

A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motorised vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. They are ideal for families or couples to feel at home. We have two accommodation units available for hire. Our large and spacious mobile home is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Our smaller mobile home is available by the night and is ideal for couples, families with young children and walkers/cyclists. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SITE. The site is open from April to September.

Between Bagnoles de l'Orne, a renowned spa town, and Lassay-les-Châteaux, a small town full of character, the Champs étoilés gîte is exceptional for the warm atmosphere it creates thanks to a subtle combination of wood and stone, and new and renovated furniture. You are 13km from the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne and in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park. You'll love the hiking trails and the nearby Véloscénie cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel. If you fancy a spot of fishing, there are plenty of opportunities in the village, with lakes and trout in the river.

The "medics" plaque was unveiled in 2018 on Omaha Beach in the presence of Ray Lambert, on the very spot where the 16th Regiment of the 1st US Infantry Division landed on June 6, 1944. A nurse sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division, Ray Lambert landed on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. On that day, he was part of the first assault waves of the 1st US Infantry Division on Omaha Beach. Having joined the US Army in 1940, he had already taken part in several major military operations during the Second World War, in North Africa and Sicily. When he approached Omaha Beach in his landing craft, he was a sergeant leading a group of nurses. Under heavy enemy fire, he organized the rescue of survivors and set up a first-aid post on the beach, near a concrete block, one of the few shelters where the wounded could be brought to safety, below Wn 62, the German-held resistance nest in the Colleville-sur-Mer sector. Ray Lambert was wounded several times during the day on June 6, but continued to treat the wounded. For his actions, he received several high American awards, as well as the Légion d?Honneur. Ray Lambert died on April 10, 2021 at the age of 100. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, while some of his ashes were scattered on Omaha beach, where he loved to return to pay tribute to his brothers in arms, in the presence of friends and family. The site has since become a place of remembrance for D-Day doctors and nurses.

"The 100 days of Normandy" The images projected on nine screens stem from British, Canadian, German, American and French archives. On both sides of the Channel, one was preparing for this longawaited moment. Then, in spite of unfavorable weather conditions, came the morning of June 6, 1944, the fi rst step towards the liberation of Western Europe. From the landings on the 5 beaches of the Manche and Calvados departments to the tragic bombing of Le Havre on September 12, the Battle of Normandy lasted 100 days. Experience 20 minutes of pure historical intensity! To improve the visitor experience, our reception area has been fully redesigned: maps, the chronology and the outcome of the Battle of Normandy are now presented. Several British military artifacts from the Caen Mémorial collection are also on display. Film screened every 30 minutes, on the hour and at the half hour. Just a stone’s throw from Arromanches, Victor and Stéphanie welcome you to their typical Bessin farmstead. Come and discover heliciculture over a guided tour followed by a tasting session.
