Description

From the church in Ryes, climb up to the Monts de Ryes plateau that overlooks the Gronde valley. From there, you can marvel at the panorama over Ryes, to the south, and Saint-Côme-de-Fresné and the artificial harbour in Arromanches to the north.

Steps

Etape 1

Start from the carpark in front of the church of Ryes.

Etape 2

Walk in the direction of Arromanches and take the first road on the right. Walk up pass the picnic area and continue straight on. At the top of the hill, at the fork, take the path on the right.

Continue for about a mile. When you reach a house on your right, take the path on the right leading down to the river Gronde. At the bottom of the path, turn left, and after 200 yards, turn right. Walk along the RD 205 and turn into the first street on the right.

Come out on the RD 205, turn right, follow the road for a few yards, carefully cross the road and take the first path on the left. Continue on the path until you reach the Gronde.

At the junction, turn right. Continue straight on, then cross the RD 87 and follow the path opposite until you reach the RD 127.

Turn right, cross the RD 205 and continue straight on.

At the junction, take the path on the right which runs along the grounds of the château. When you enter the village, continue straight on. Turn left at the washhouse, and take the first street on the left. Then take the 2nd right (path).
