This hike is divided into two sections, a round trip, on the same track, from the hill of Guérin, then a loop to the church of Esquerdes, surrounded by vineyards, woods and orchards.

All along this hike, beautiful climbs lead to very wide panoramas on the vast wooded areas of the Gascony hillsides.

Starting at the Place du Gravier on the banks of the Garonne, this route allows you to discover this two thousand year-old town’s historical sites by following the 19 special signs.

This little loop starts from the panoramic site of the Romanesque church of Goutz, dating from the 11th century, which allows you to discover the vineyards and the Garonne valley, from La Réole to Beaupuy, a hillside overlooking the town of Marmande. From there, you can also admire the valley of Sérac and, in the distance, the village of Cocumont perched on another height. Slightly off the circuit in the valley of Sérac, you can see the remains of the mill of Marquezines. The toponymic origin of Goutz could come from the Germanic " Gots " (the Goths) The parish is part of the municipality of Cocumont since 1793. The Romanesque church is built on a mound. This earthen mound dates back to Celtic times and is now occupied by a cemetery.

Three Romanesque churches punctuate this rugged route, traced through the agricultural hillsides and woods of Cocumont and Guérin, offering vast views over the valley and the Garonne hillsides.

Commune without a village, nearly 2 km separate the church from the town hall of Poussignac. This small loop through the woods offers some panoramic views from the cereal clearings.

The history of Ruffiac, located on the route of a Roman road, is known to us essentially by the tribulations of the parish taken in the upheavals of the Revolution. Under the Old Regime, the village is a cure of the archpriest of Sadirac and depends on the diocese of Bazas. Old documents mention the existence, in Ruffiac, before the Revolution, of a priory called "of Ruffiac" or "Saint-Laurent". The latter was confiscated and sold during the Revolution. Another ancient brotherhood would also have been present in Ruffiac, placed under the patronage of Saint Remède or Saint Rémy. You will be able to witness this religious heritage during this hike The commune of Ruffiac lives from forestry, mixed farming, breeding and crafts.

From the village of Veyries, seat of the parish church and the town hall, to the church of St-Gény, there are numerous viewpoints on the hillsides of Gascony and the Landes forest.

With its wide paths through a cereal-growing countryside, sometimes lined with tall trees, sometimes open to offer you a grandiose panorama of the Landes forest and in good weather on the Pyrenees, this circuit alternates landscapes of great diversity. Its particularity, the numerous churches in ruins: Labastide in the heart of a hamlet, Mataillac isolated in the middle of a field and Saint-Gény covered with ivy. In Veyries and Saint-Gemme however, two buildings in good condition remain, one with a bell-tower-wall, the other with a pointed bell-tower.

Château de Malvirade is equipped with several rooms, for up to 120 people for a formal dinner. In all, 6 rooms, courtyards, gardens and a 23-hectare park. The château also boasts 2 catering kitchens with cold rooms.

This château originally had only one tower, built by order of Alienor of Aquitaine. The, building was extended and renovated in the second half of the 15th century during the first Renaissance. A century later, Malvirade became of one Henry IV’s houses and bore witness to the eight French Wars of Religion.

The church was rebuilt in 1895, but retains some early 15th-century elements. Giovanni Masutti would have intervened in Saint-Caprais church either in the late 30s or very early 40s, since several churches with the same decorative styles can be found in the surrounding area. The nave, chapels and choir were covered almost entirely on the ceiling with silver star patterns. Winged angels emerging from the clouds adorn the nave, including one holding a banner bearing the name of the church?s patron saint. The dove of the Holy Spirit can be seen on the ceiling joining the choir. The walls of the chapels are covered with faux trompe-l?il fixtures, as are the arcades on the ceiling. The choir features two more winged angels, as well as two winged and haloed saints holding the banners ?Gloire à Dieu? and ?Paix aux Hommes?

Built in 1873 in a neo-Romanesque style, the church features a cul-de-four choir divided into eight quarters painted blue with gold stars, three of which are adorned with haloed winged angels emerging from the clouds. Giovanni Masutti may have decorated all or part of the interior of the building in 1937 or 1938, but only the choir paintings are attributable to him today.
